Good fixed blade knife?

Busse, swamp rat and Ranger.

SR is my favorite for the price and quality, but Ranger knives are not far behind and a bit cheaper. Havent used a busse yet but, I don't think you could go wrong here!! Good luck with whatever you choose..

Loads of good knives out there at all price ranges.

My latest project is at the lower end of the price scale. Amazing what one can get for 39 bucks plus shipping.

Kabar large heavy bowie, with sharpened false edge.

$39 + shipping and a few sheets of hi alumina sandpaper for the random orbital or belt sander.

It's a fearsome cutting machine. That comes equipped with a very good heavy riveted, full grain leather topped with cordura sheath.

Is Extrema Ratio any good? I have seen a couple and really like the looks, of this one in particular, the Col Moschin

I have a Fulcrum (Tiger camo). I have yet to test it's full potential, but it is a crowbar. It doesn't come razor sharp though, and the handle gets a little skinny near the guard. I absolutely love the knive.

oh cool. I just asked about these on another thread... what do they cost roughly (i was looking at the Col and the venom)?

hahaha sweet name... johnny blaze ...hehe

Taste hell fire!

The toughest knife I own is a Swamp Rat Camp Tramp. Great knife, but unfortunately I don't use it as much as I thought I would (when my children were born, we stopped camping and hiking as much).

I would also say that although I really like the knife AND the people at Swamp Rat, they are not particularly good at keeping a timeline. I waited much longer than I was told I would for the knife and they have had timeline issues with other pruducts as well.

Their blades are great though and if you are patient, then I would pop for one.

This post is simply meant to be informative, not inflamatory.

Spartin117,
I have one of the Col Moschins (pronounced Kol Moskeen) and it has an unbelievably confortable handle, is sharp as they come, and the point is likt a large needle(very sharp). I have not taken it out to see how it fairs but it was made especially for the Col Moschin which is the Italian version of our Delta Force so it must have to have some kind of requirements for being tough and holding an edge. To me the point looks like it might be a little fragile since it is so sharp and pointed but the steel used is a good tough steel.

If I really wanted a knife that would cut its way through a forest or jungle and chop like the blazes I would probably grab my Fallkniven F2 with the 8" laminated VG-10 blade. If 8" is too long then the A2 would do the job too. I have my A1 and an F1 in a piggyback sheath arrangement for both large and small work.

Chris Reeve Knives are also at the top of the list is you can afford them and I don't know of any other dealer that has the public relations and care for their customers that CRK has.....Great people there in Idaho to work with and if you break a knife of theirs they will stand behind you and probably give you the benefit of the doubt as to how it broke.

FWIW, and Ciao
Ron Cassel
