So for a while now I've wanted a good looking fixed blade knife. I really like a dark blade and earthy colored handle, like the ESEE 5. I even like bone or wood for the handle. The problem is, I can only spend like $50 max on a good knife.:( Any suggestions?

check out stknives ..... "google it" might be out of your range tho.... im not sure if you want somthing like a 5 that's alot of knife

Well for 50 is a bit hard to find. If you can find a few extra bucks you'd be in the range of a Becker BK-2. It is all black, but it's a hell of a knife with a great warranty

There are some Buck fixed blades that are plenty good for around that price. Not going to be as bullet proof as an ESEE 5 but not much is. Either that or like styx said save a few more pennies and get a Becker, they are also great tough blades.

For $50 I second the BK2, especially since you mentioned an Esee 5. They are very much the same in size and shape. You can't go wrong with that knife.

You can focus more on the best knife for the price and use some thing like Aluma-Hyde II to make the blade the color you want later.

For $50 or less you can find really good deals on older Ontario Spec Plus models (as low as $30) for a cheap tank or look at the relatively new Mora models - they will be thin but still good.

The Benchmade 510 or 515 Rant is a great knife, for the amount your wanting to spend, and many times can be found on sale! This is an excellent all-around heavy use knife.

You are getting veeeery sleepy. You want a BK-2. It will make your wildest dreams come true.

Check the couch, cash in some soda cans, and get a BK2. Or, there's the Schrade Extreme Survival knives. I've got one, it was like $40ish, the blade is not too bad. The handles "work" but could be much better. With a lanyard, and the long handle, the Schrade ES is an okay chopper.
Get, the Becker, you won't regret it. There are after market micarta scales out there, if you want them.

The Schrade Extreme carbon steel knives have all gotten pretty good reviews repeatedly on knifecenters website. They seem to offer a lot for the money.

For around $50, I'd be looking at the Buck Nighthawk. I've got a couple of those, and for the money they are good knives.

The handle on the BK-2 isn't for large hands, it's for extra large hands unless modified / mod = $ / so look at Kabar, Gerber LMF, and Smith & Wesson fixed blades [much better construction than their folders].

It doesn't have a dark blade or handle, but you might consider a Beretta Loveless drop point. Supposedly, Loveless cooperated with Beretta to design this as a cheaper way of making his knives available to the public without the long wait. Beretta makes them out of AUS8 with 3.8 inch blade and a Zytel handle.

See a good picture of it here (click on the enlarge image button)

Here is a listing for it for $40

and here for just under $50

From personal experience using it as a general purpose camp and skinning knife, I can say that this is a very well made knife that takes and holds a very good edge. It is well worth the money, IMHO, altho the sheath leaves a lot to be desired.

Additionally, if you are really limited by budget, you might consider the brand Mora. It is a Swedish-made knife of very good steel and, again from personal experience, probably the best bargain on the market. They may not look pretty, but they are certainly functional and almost all of them are under $50.

BTW, it looks like Amazon is listing the BK-2 for about $55, less S/H
