Hey guys, I'm looking for a good folder with a blade under 3 inches and thought i would get some suggestions from you all. I just want a good EDC knife that's pretty low profile. No serrations though. Any blade shape will do. And i kind of want to be able to open it with one hand just because i'm lazy but that's not necessary. Oh and less than like $40. The less it cost the better :P SO if any of you know any such knife PLEASE post :D THANKS!

Second the suggestion for a KaBar Dozier . Personally prefer the version with a hole for opening - but both versions are simply excellent affordable tools. A reasonable substitute for the Gerber LST of years ago.

Go on ebay and type in NAVY knife and you will see come up a bunch of different styled blades done by the manufacture'r that does the Byrd line for Spyderco. They have a small compression lock folder with a blade that is right about 3". An extremely well made knife and very stout with a full flat grind of 440c that cuts like a razor. Other than that look at Kershaw like the Leek and such I would think. Also sometimes you can find some CRKT knives like one that is modeled after a Bud Neely design. I forget the name at the moment though. So there ya go. keepem sharp

A few $20-30 knives that are as good as $60 knives

Blade-tech Ganyana Lite

Ka-bar Dozier Folding Hunter

Kershaw OD-1

Hmm i can't seem to find an Od-1 But the OD-2 looks really promising. Anyone have any experience with the OD-2?

And all the Spyderco fans out there, no offense, but i just can't stand that spyderhole.... Idk why.

The Dozier is a little bit too long for what i'm thinking. It looks good though and i may get it just because :P

You can get a mini size of the Dozier Folding Hunter, under $20 at some places.

I really liked my OD-1 that I had but I wished it had more belly. I couldn't pass it up at Wal-mart when they still carried them - think it was only $30. Never seen the OD-2 in person.

i second the spydeco persistance. G-10 folder, liner lock. stainless steel liners. well built and can be had for under $30

CRKT Drifter (super slim, one-hand and frame lock, $20 or less, so you can get two!!):

Sog flash 1

or the Kershaw od-2 (They are going for about 14 dollars on amazon right now with free shipping). Mine is coming in 2 days.

buck mini vantage pro? great price for a knife with s30v... if you can stretch the $40 a few bucks. you can get one from knifeworks for about $49... if not then a persistence for about $32 or a frn ukpk for about $38, also the drifter looks to be a very high value knife aswell

another vote for the small vantage pro here. can't beat it for the price, S30v paul bos heat treat, and g10 handle scales.

I've got a few expensive knives (expensive for me anyway) and I still find time to carry the Leek. Definitely recommend it.
