Good general EDC knife

Several worthy suggestions.
Two more alternatives to check out:
- Boker Plus Exskelibur 2: remarkably faithful and nicely made production version of a much loved elegant custom design:

- For very little money, the Sanrenmu 710 really punches above its class.
 
Lots of good suggestions. I think the Delica would serve your needs just fine.
FFG would make a fine letter opener:thumbup:

All suggestions so far are good, but if you want an excellent knife that should fit your paramaters perfectly, look at the buck vantage line.

There are two sizes, and three or four models.(different blade steel, handle material) The prices range from about seventeen to 80 bucks, and all are excellent. the vantage pro small features g-10 handles, and an s30v blade, (An excellent all around blade steel). The ergonomics on these knives are great, they feature an excellent pocket clip, and if you buy one of the more inexpensive models, like the avid or the select, you should have money leftover to buy a multi-tool like a sak or a leatherman. Make sure to order the buck through an online dealer, not directly through buck though, you should save a bundle.
 
Many have said get a SAK (Swiss Army Knife). I'll extend that and say get THE Swiss Army Knife, the Victorinox Soldier. Very well made, useful for so many tasks.Toss a classic or Rambler on the keychain, and there's nothing you can't do. HEre's mine:

I edc an SAK "camper".....great knife. Can't go wrong with an SAK....

Mora's are a very popular fixed blade at a VERY decent price...

oh, and if your anything like the rest of us, you'll get hooked fast. I have 3 more knives I'm looking at right now...

I have a lot of different one hand openers I edc, but my economy camper is always in my right front pocket.
