It’s a beautiful knife and is just going to age like wine. I wouldn’t trade mine for anything. Icing on the cake that it’s a Sailor’s rope knife. Same reasons I enjoy coming here. This is my only social media and I enjoy it being that way.Not an entry. I enjoy coming here and just slowing down a bit and enjoying the photos and thoughtful comments. I’ll occasionally get overloaded on other social media where the knife pursuit seems overly frantic. I’ve gotten several knives here from members at basement prices and I’m always appreciative of the trust that is extended among the collectors and enthusiasts.
Thanks, I couldn't agree more. This one has already taken the top spot as my favorite knife and remembering it was given as a gift makes it even more special.It’s a beautiful knife and is just going to age like wine. Thanks for sharing. One thing that I have found that goes hand in hand with most generosity is an attitude of humility, which I'm sure Will is full of.I have a 2020 forum knife, but I have a very good friend who I know would love to have one, so I will enter on his behalf. The friend is a very deserving schoolteacher that I have been friends with for most of my life at this point.
As many know, I have been the recipient of more than my share of generosity on this forum. But the bit of generosity I would like to call attention to is the generosity of @willintheweeds. I do an annual memorial scout knife giveaway in memory of my little brother (actually, it is time for me to do one this year), and for a couple years now Will has been providing a made in the USA Bear and Son Cub Scout knives for my GAW. Last year, as a surprise, he also included a classic BSA Scout knife for me because I had been complaining that the official site doesn't seem to carry the four-blades-and-a-bail style anymore. I don't know how much Will would want me saying, but I know that his generosity here is only a small part of his overall generosity. Definitely someone worth recognizing.![]()
Here's a little example of Will's generosity. I really appreciate those Bear and Son knives.
Very nice! Almost an exact match, definitely close enough for a familial match. Will is definitely a fine example of the spirit of The Porch.This is the most generous corner of the internet.
In the attached picture is my old favorite, a Hoffritz 2-blade Congress. The sheepsfoot was well worn when I purchased it 30 years ago. Above it is the beautiful Voss 2-blade Congress in stainless that received from Will Power. Both made in Germany with stag covers, the same bar shield and Will’s favorite sorry-stops. The Voss is slightly smaller than the Hoffritz.
When I opened the package my girls decided the Voss might be my knife’s little sister. Since they came from different parents but are clearly related, we agreed they must be cousins.

I am just trying to do my part Jack. Thank you for sharing this, that knife is a beauty. Speaking of humility, you are likely one of the most responsible people for The Porch having that reputation for generosity, which is appreciated by many.Congratulations on your retirement, and on finding a suitable knife to celebrate it with (well doneGeofS
)
Not an entry from me, but I just wanted to thank you for contributing to The Porch's reputation for outstanding generosity
I have a LOT of people to thank for their kindness to me here, but I wanted to mention a young feller who recently made this fabulous Santoku kitchen knife for me, a very talented and generous 14 year old, with a great Grandfather @ReaperAL![]()

By far, the best give away I've been involved in was back in 2017 when I held a Christmas in July and BigBiscuit (Bob) won. I was so happy for him and he was very humble and grateful about winning it. He asked for a subscription to Blade I think. He was a very cool guy and I was so thankful to be in a position to provide him a bit of happiness. I'll never forget his smiling avatar.
