Good high end steel folders for under $250?

The ZT 0609 is a very elegant framelock with CPM-20CV if you're leaning towards that style of knife.

Seconding marcus52AR on the Spyderco Manix 2. Like a bigger native with a cooler lock mechanism. If you like blurple you can spring for the S110V version for only $150.

OK, stop me if you’ve heard this one.

A ZT 0562CF (or G-10)and a ZT 0609 walk into a bar...

I'd also suggest the Spider Monkey. The Benchmade 484 Nakamura also checks the boxes, though it has G10 scales.

Can't go wrong with the ZT's really. There is a whole lot out there and I wouldn't dismiss S35VN, like looking at a ZT 0450 for example either CF or Ti. It's below your budget, fits your size requirements and has a track record of being well liked. And you can always customize the Ti version if you don't want the all gray-ish look.

I agree with all of this.

ZT makes a great knife and the materials/value lines up nicely. I actually adjusted to flippers because of ZT.

The 0450 is a great knife. Really enjoy it and s35vn is good stuff.

Thanks everyone for the recommendations. I noticed many of you mentioned the ZT 0562CF and a couple of benchmades, that's probably going to be in my consideration list as well.

At the same time, I might want to go with Spyderco PM2 in S110V, and go with custom scales. Man, I might have go a bit too deep in the rabbit hole finding more info about knives.

Am I expecting too much at this price range for my requirements?
$250 is more than enough to get a nice knife in the steels you mentioned (or likely almost any steel). By deal watching I bought both the PM2 and Manix 2 in S110V for under $250 total. You could get a Buck Vantage in CPM-20CV right now for under $100. As others mentioned, ZT is using 20CV in most of their new models, a lot of which are in the $200-240 range. The Spyderco Southard flipper in CTS-204p may still be around at a few places. And it seems like everything is offered in M390 these days. You could get a Kershaw Link in it for like $85.

The ZT0562CF is a great recommendation. I would also look at the ZT0801TI.
