Good idea maybe?

Well, on my EDC's since a couple of years ago i have magnetized about the first half inch of my knife just in case i drop screws while working or i need a magnetic something or other! Good idea to you? How many of you would adopt this weird practice? Or have you already.

That can be annoying when you sharpen the knife -- the steel powder you grind off will stick to the blade.

I magnetize most of my screwdrivers, though. That's handy when you drop a screw somewhere you can't reach it.
