in honor of the other sometimes you dont have to wait thread, wanted to tell you guys about my experience with JWBensinger.
I met this service provider through HI forums, where a knife he traded to another member was posted , a "big city barong" basically a modern barong style bowie, I really liked the lines and decided I would approach him with some custom work, but was pretty unsure anyone could do what I was asking. ( I have specific time requests , materials and other esoteric minutea) He does most all his work by hand and not CNC and that is pretty important for my collecting interests.
Well, long story short, Mr. Bensinger did everything he could to help get my ideas out on paper and then into steel, he tolerated tons of rambling emails where I was trying to figure out what I wanted and how I wanted it done specifically, after we negotiated a price he began work immediately and has kept me updated throughout the process with pictures and messages. The items all look better than expected and its not just good customer service but high competence in his craft. I look forward to finishing up the numerous projects I have going now and have absolutely no doubt I will be satisfied with them from what I have seen so far.
Basically this is an ideal first experience with a custom knife maker, I have maid several payments and have seen loads of progress, the projects are pretty big , but , he has handled it without missing a step. I just wanted to say how positive my experience has been with this service provider, and how happy I am that I met him through the blade forums.
