Good japanese folding knife?

Every knife I've bought from Seki City, Japan has been perfect.

Spydercos, Fallknivens, Gryphons, etc. all have had perfect grinds and excellent fit and finish.

At the budget end of the market, there's a host of Higonaifu (Only one maker left who is allowed to call hi blades higonokami). And there's also Citadel knives which used to be made in Japan (don't know if the factory's been outsourced though).

SOG tomcat is a really fine knife...if your EDCing-gentleman's folders, perhaps you should look at the Mcusta line.

Wanted to add that I just recieved an Al Mare SERE 2000 and it is the smoothest folder I've ever handled, absolutely unbelievably perfect in every way - razor sharp with perfect grinds, smoothest opening folder ever, strong detent, secure and perfectly adjusted liner lock, and superior desinged handles with amazing grip in different positions.

If you have the cash I'd highly recommend Rockstead. I have a couple, and they have been my EDC for almost a couple of years now. I have yet to resharpen either, with only occasional stropping required.

Japanese made.

I have a japanese made and it looks just like the buck 110. it is very old. I use to have 12 of them. I got hurt so I gave some away to the people that help me out and didnt ask for any thing in returned. very sharp. I will see if I have one more. if I do then I will take pictures of it and post them for you. they didn't come in boxes. they all came in rolled up wax paper.

I will vouch for the quality of Mcusta knives. I keep an Mcusta Bamboo folder in my rotation along with a Sebenza, XM-18, and Strider SJ-75 (among others). It's an excellent smaller knife.

Mcusta is also the only production knife I've encountered that rivals (if not exceeds) the out-of-the-box sharpness of Spyderco.

They're similar because they come from the same place.

Al Mar knives are made in Seki City, as are Spyderco, Fallkniven, Gryphon, and many others.

They all have perfect fit and finish, perfect grinds, razor sharp blades, etc.
