Good Knife Damage?

I got a new truck once and a friend recommended that I throw a chain in the back for a few days so I wouldn't worry about scratching the bed anymore.

You can buy two of a knife and feel the same freedom.

Reminds me of one time at work many years ago when I was younger there was a guy at work with his brand new Dodge Ram pickup, we went with him to get some concrete blocks. We asked him to get some plywood to line the box for the blocks. He was known for his hot temper and yelled at us saying there is no time for that and he started throwing the blocks into his truck from several feet away. We reciprocated and did the same thing. The box looked like a ten year old truck after one trip. Sadly it looked like a 15 year old truck in less than one year.

My 97 Toyota is still ticking at over 200K miles. So, yeah to "cheap". It wasn't cheap however when I first purchased it. I have a bed liner in it, but it came that way. I also used to use the heavy rubbermaid rubber bed liners that are easy to slide out if you need to. Stuff doesn't slide around easily on them.
I got about 200k out of my Tacoma. My S-10 didn't do much over 120k. I have a long commute. I had a big rubber mat I used to put in the bed. Haven't owned a truck in years. It was a joke.

Now that gas isn't quite so bad and money's a little tighter I get old Buick "Grandpa cars" and drive 'em into the ground.

The same kind of thing can be applied to firearms. Add a few dings, a little bluing or finish wear, and you have a shooter. The honest wear comment is applied to firearms frequently. Reduces the value, but does not impact function.

Scratches or an accidental drop can take away alot of the new knife worries, however i do not abuse my knives for the most part; so its not like its going to get alot more use due to the scratches.

I somehow broke a tiny little piece of the tip on one of my Spydercos PM2 . So I am going to drive up to Albert at Seattle Edge and have him fix it and drop of my other PM2 and ZT 550BK and another Spyderco Stretch for new super awesome edge. =)

I took an 1/8" diameter chunk out of the edge of my Contego about 1/4" forward of the heel. I don't care for choils on knives like this, but it has one now.

Indeed. I buy duplicates of knives I'm very fond of often.

I always use my knives, for whatever a knife can be used. That said, I haven't had any real damage in years. My dads old gerber folder from wally world had a broken tip from my dad prying packages open. So I re-profiled the tip with a worksharp belt sander.
Works great once again! even though I usually carry a ZT or Benchmade / Spyderco.
Lol
