Good knife for 20 bucks?

a used buck 110??? can ya narrow down the search criteria. at least whether or not you want a fixed or a folder  :D

Timberline Vallotton. I have the large combo edge. They usually run around $20. For a spring assist (very strong), AUS8A, liner lock EDC, you'd be hard pressed to find better.

Gerber Profile fixed blade. Surprisingly good for 20 bucks, and very easy to find.

For a folder you might like one of the Ka-bar Dozier Hunter models that can be had as low as $18...different sizes, handle colors, thumb stud drop-point or hole with a clip-point shape.

Mora for a fixed blade, probably a unanimous choice. Also several of the Krupp steel Cold Steel models and many good machetes if you need/want one.

Moras, some of the cold steel knives that use krupp steel. Rough Rider slip joints. San Ren Mu...

BUCK 486, AKA Bucklite Max Large: Black, plain edge, full-sized yet easily carried, lockback, pocket clip, lined lanyard hole, thumbstud opener, 8 & 5/8 inches overall, 3.1 ounces, 420 HC stainless blade steel, just under $20 delivered and forever warranty. I EDC the orange variant and couldn't be more tickled.

This is all I can think of right now. Many have been mentioned already, but I've missed a lot more

I like my Condor Rodan and my CS Pocket Bushman a good deal. The Pocket Bushman is a bit controversial amongst some folks but I love mine. The Rodan is a constant companion in the woods.

Get a Victorinox Swiss Army Knives... if you could get the Alox handles one like cadet or pioneer in that price they would serve you well... building quality wont dissapoint you..

if you like tweezers and toothpick, get a super tinker or if you dont need the scissor, the tinker would serve you well with its additionals tools incase you need some screwdrivers, bottle and can opener and so on.

Assuming you want a 3.5" or so folder....

Ontario RAT-1 (OK8848) can be had for under $20 ($25 with shipping) if you shop around. I think it will be hard to beat for the price.

I've got to say that the Kabar Doziers are about the best under $20 knives I've ever had.
