Good Knife For the Mrs.

Hello,

I would like your recs on a decent folder for the wifey to keep in her purse. Dont want huge or anything. Will be for SD and everyday cutting chores she might come across. Deployment better than a nail nick is prefered. Lets keep it <= $50.

Found a CS Mini American Lawman...looks good. Or a Spyderco Delica (already have not in use) what you all think?

i think if i got her the mini american lawman i would be seriously thinking of stealing it...so...we better go a different route :D
 
A lot of choices out there.... personally I like Liner locks as they are easy to operate.
Like the Kershaw Scallion or Leek as it opens easy and has a safety. You could even get one in pink. ;O)

how could i forget the kershawS??@!?! SOund advise...and...wife's fave color is red... hmmmm... plus KO assisted opening...could be a winner...Thanks! :thumbup:

You could get her one of the new FFG Delicas in whatever color she likes best.

It's light and easy to carry but most of all, it will cut and slice very well.
 
so far im w/ suggestions here im leaning toward either kershaws or spydies. Let's hear more thoughts and see some pix :)
 
there are alot of options in that price range. What kind of blade style do you think she'd like? A SD knife and a small knife dont exactly cross paths together in my mind. In a SD situation if its burried in her perse and not in her pocket it probably wont do her much good.

My fiance likes the Kershaw Mini-Mojo I gave her and she uses it at work. If she likes colors other than black the Kershaw line of Leeks, Chives etc have all kinds of colors and are assisted opening. The assisted opening is nice as its easy deployment and the leeks and chives have little plastic slips that can help keep the knife from opening in her purse.

There are other options, for a little more than 50 you can get her a spyderco delica or under that theres the Spyderco persystence. Boker has some nice options for under 50 like the trance or there more SD oriented BAT but I think that may be a bit larger than your looking for.

The biggest thing for me was to give my girl a knife she not only liked to hold but felt comfortable using, for whatever reason she loved the lock on the mini-mojo and preferred it to the liner lock.
 
How bout a Spydie Dragonfly. I carry an se Fly in my LR pocket loose to

use when I around folks. Big Folder is always in RF thou.
 
Can you say Spyderco Ladybug - I got my girl one in yellow so its easy to find in that bottomless pocketbook she carries.
She thinks its cute, so she really likes it for that reason.

Persistence is a good knife. It's going to be heavier than a Delica. You like liner locks but have you asked her what she likes? Dragonfly is another good knife. It has a clip but is so light you can keep it on a key ring if you want. CRKT makes a small knife called a drifter that is a very diminutive size. It comes in Stainless or G10 and can be had for probably under 20 bucks.

If I were her I would go with one of the new FFG Delica's. I have a brown one and love it. Good luck in your search.
 
I don't exactly think a folder buried in a purse is exactly useful for SD, but then again I don't carry knives for SD because of all the legal issues attached to doing so.

Maybe an izula with the sheath fixed inside the purse to make it easier to find and draw quickly? And they are available in pink :p
 
+1 on the izula, you could get her pink!

and the delica FFG comes in purple, either of those would be a fine choice. :thumbup:
 
Mrs So-Lo said she is going to make the full SE ZDP Endura her purse knife when it comes in :thumbup: (due in today or tomorrow)

I picked up a blue PE Salsa for her awhile back and she said, "what am I going to do with that? If I'm going to carry a 'knife....' I'm going to carry a 'KNIFE!" :D I pulled the S90 Mili out of my pocket and said, "is this a "KNIFE?"" She said, "It's ok."


Anyways, size does matter :D
