Good knives for slicing and food prep (preferably spyderco)

I have not but that's why I have Kitchen knives Nothing beats a parring knife.

Depending on the paring knife I'd have to agree with you. However, the thread is about a good slicing knife for food prep with a preference for spyderco. I'm a little perplexed by the recommendation of a becker. Adequate slicer? Sure. Get the job done? Sure. Good when compared to something like the military? Not even close.

The best Spydercos I have used for food prep are the Pro Culinaire series of Spydercos manufactured by Masahiro with MBS-26 steel. They are discontinued but pop up on the secondary market frequently.

As far as Spyderco fixed blades not designed primarily as food prep knives I would say the Temperance 2, South Fork and Mule Team knives would be my preference and with folders the Stretch followed by the Endura.

An other vote for the Military. That 4" blade, plus the flat grind, makes it a hell of a slicer.

Check out the Spyderco Chokwe. I love mine for slicing. Since it is a warnclif type blade there is no belly, but it is long and thin, and slices very well.

As far as lighter use, and slicing goes, I really like my ZDP-189 Stretch, but I never used it for food prep, though, it could probably suffice.

In my kitchen right now are Aqua Salts in PE and FS as well as two Mules with Halpern scales. My new forum Native works well as do my milis. The best for the snack tray in the TV room is one of these EKA 38's.

I vote Endura and Police. I haven't tried a Military or Stretch though, I think they would do well.

Paramilitary 2 is too short.
