good knives for winter ?

well since winter is rapidly approaching here i Canada, i would like some info on some good folders that would be ideal to use in the snow. so basically good rust resistance, no steel handle scales (they get cold), and a good grip. right now im edc'ing a cara cara 2 which im very happy with especially for the price, and i will continue carrying it through the winter but im willing to pay 120 $ or less for a good secondary blade. i will also settle for a small fixed blade (no more then 4 inches long)

No frozen or failing locks, easy to work with when wearing gloves. The money you save can go to hot coffee. :D

I use the Gerber Propel year-round, easiest folder to manipulate even with chunky mittens, and the blade actually folds into the handle so it doesn't take up pocket-space like a fat spyderco. You can de-assist it to make it even easier to use.

I don't mind fat knives.
Of course, I never had a problem with fat girls either...;)

I suggest a Spyderco Military. G-10 handles won't freeze the fingers (although you'll probably be wearing gloves anyway), and it's easy to open and close while wearing gloves.

I'd say something you can open one handed with gloves on. A Spyderco with oversized deployment hole fits the bill. Based on materials, size and price I recommend the ParaMilitary 2.

ok, i purchased a pacific salt with the plain edge. however i still have 45 dollars remaining from my initial budget ;) and i decided to put off the new pair of jeans i was gonna buy and add an extra 50 dollars which brings me back up to 95 dollars. so now id like to focus on small fixed blades that are no more than 4 inches to go along with my spyderco salt. keep in mind i like tactical looking blades. thanks to all of you for your suggestions, i greatly appreciate all your opinions.

Salt is a great choice for a folder used in inclement weather (winter).

One I use and recommend is an old favorite, small & tough with great ergonomics for dressing and skinning game. It is the Bill Moran Drop Point model from Spyderco. Good steel. It may be a bit more than you are looking to spend but I don't want you to short-change yourself for $30.

Here is a good YouTube:

Been looking pretty hard at a fallkniven F1. Can be found for less than $120. Not a folder, but good knife and the basic handle would be grippy and not freeze you as bad as a full tang + scales. Sheath knife would be easier to deploy with gloves.

I picked up a Spyderco Pacific Salt as well... FRN handle and thumb hole has a decent feel for wearing gloves. It is my main while fishing but I'll be breaking it out in the winter also.

Two I would suggest you look at are the American Lawman http://www.knifeworks.com/coldsteelamericanlawmang-10handleplainblackblade.aspx and the Spyderco Paramilitary 2 http://www.knifeworks.com/search.aspx?find=para-military+2

Fallkniven f1, dpx hest original, dpx assault 2. Dpx knives are solid especially the ones with the pry bar on the end. Very handy
