  • Today marks the 24th anniversary of 9/11. I pray that this nation does not forget the loss of lives from this horrible event. Yesterday conservative commentator Charlie Kirk was murdered, and I worry about what is to come. Please love one another and your family in these trying times - Spark

good lock backs?

I have a few Fallkniven LB's. They are nice knives & more comfortable in my hand & pocket than my Caly3. But they don't open one handed. 3G steel is excellent.

TK4, U2, FH9: none are OHO.

I have a Fallkniven U2
It is a lovely knife with a superb blade
Very light indeed with a usefull lanyard hole

For those with difficulty with their hands
It has a nail pull each side
The blade tension can be adjusted so opening is easy
The lockback is very strong, but very easy to release

My search for a good lock back ended when I purchased my Spyderco Caly 3.5. However the Fallkniven ones are nice I just cant justify the price difference over a Spyderco.

It sucks there are so few modern, OHO lockbacks of good quality, and even then the regular production models mostly seem to top out at VG-10.

Al Mar has several lockbacks in ZD-189. LionSteel PM-1 used by the Swiss Police is a robust lockback using Sleipner steel. LionSteel is coming out with a new TM-1 lockback in Sleipner and the frames are milled from a solid piece of either micarta or carbon fiber (two models). I have several nice lockbacks in N690 steel from Viper Knives and Fox Knives.

Is the price difference because of the excellent steel on the U2?

I don't know.
I have a Caly 3 in ZDP, which has an almost identical blade length to the TK4 in 3G. If you give the blades the same value, then stack the Caly's steel liners & carbon fibre covers against the TK4's moulded plastic, The Caly should be worth that much more. But the Tk4 costs $40 more around here, & I don't understand why.
I do prefer the TK4 though. It feels better in the hand, rides better in the pocket, & is much lighter. I haven't used the Caly in ages.
I don't know which steel is better. I haven't done any comparison tests, maybe I should.

Buck Spitfire. Its really worth checking out. Great knife, USA made at a great price.

Well this thread gives me a chance to mention my edc made by the late "Norman Levine" yep it's a Lock Back and I love it.I read that he was killed in 94 or 95(Drunk Driver ran into him)so my folder at a minimum must be 18 yrs old and performs like a charm and still being carried&used.Just giving props to a maker that obviously to me made a great Lock Back!
