Hi all.
I wanted to take the time to share an experience i had with knifemaker Matt Tackett (BF name tackett13). He is an apprentice under Chris Bowden (KFU).

I purchased a knife on the exchange from Matt 2-3 wks ago. When i received the knife, i pinged Matt to tell him there was some "grooves" (marks) along the handle ends (included pics). He immediately told me to send it back to him and he would replace the handle. i told him that it was really no big deal to me. I could sand it out. I just wanted to let him know. But, he would have none of it. he insisted that i send the knife back...at his expense.

He got the knife back and took a look and was horrified that it made it out the door (again, it was really a minor issue). He said that he would make it right. The next day (if memory serves), he pinged me to say, "You know what? i want to make you a different model that is more representative of my work." (paraphrased)

He said he would make me a bushcrafter and even include a leather sheath for it. he even sent me pictures of the cocobolo he had and let me pick my preferred piece. outstanding!

i tried to tell him that was well above-and-beyond. I understood i got a good deal on the first knife. I even asked him if he would let me pay the difference. Again...he would have none of it.

i received the knife today. it's gorgeous. and, i couldn't be more pleased with the customer service i received from Matt. he obviously takes pride in his work. and, that means a lot to me.

i couldn't let this deed go unnoticed.

thanks Matt!

I met Matt and saw some of his knives for the first time last autumn. I could tell then he took a lot of pride in his work. I started watching to see what he was coming up with and liked his work a lot, and really dug his hamon work. I needed something a little different from what I had on hand for a project I was working on and turned to Matt because his work looked great and so did his pricing. I talked to him about what I wanted and we worked out the design. The man is a pleasure to deal with. A few weeks later the knife showed up at my PO Box, it's been getting good workouts since, and I am very happy with both the knife and the customer service. He also definitely knows how to put an edge on a knife!

Fantastic all around. My new Tackett bushcrafter is already a prized tool. His pride in his work is well earned by its quality, and his commitment to his customers is commendable.

Have been admiring his work myself. Customer service doesn't get any better than that. That is one sick looking blade brother.

I'm really pleased with my Tackett Bushcrafter also. I've been using it a good bit lately both in and outdoors (seems like we're in monsoon season here in the Deep South!). I am hoping to have him make me an EDC soon as well, though now that I've seen his caper/whittler, I may have to get one of those also!
