Good medicine or Bad ?

Hmmm... My experience with native cultures is rather limited, and I cannot offer any concrete suggestion as to the nature of the arts you found. Judging from the pictures, however, it is evident the art (let's just call it that for now) is relatively new. Weather or time has not taken its toll on this piece, and it doesn't look like it has survived a winter yet. I feel it is safe to conclude that this is fairly recently made. It may be an elder teaching younglins the how-to, and not an original symbolic site, in which case no harm or help is to become of it, providing you accept such lore to begin with. As for what this creation is intended to suggest or portray, I am as much in the dark as everyone else so far. In your neck of the woods, would it be Haida natives primarily in those parts? Again, my knowledge of native peoples is rather thin, but I do find native culture fascinating and would also like to find out more about your discovery. Please, anything you find out, share it with us. I will do the same if I learn anything new! Nice find!

Very good find and great story too. I can easily dismiss something I may or may not have heard, but my dog? No way. If he heard it, he heard it.

That's where the weirdness part comes in, the find on the tree is one thing, but then to suspect you may not be alone, that is the creep part.
Are they telling you to stay away? Maybe they don't like you scraping their trees for fire starting material?

Maybe it's Sasquatch telling you that's his tree?

kinda spooky. and not pistolero.

If Sasquatch carved the charm the it means Sasquatch carries a knife . In my part of the country it might be that someone is guarding their weed patch.

If Sasquatch carried a knife then we would have proof of his existance becuase the knife store would swipe his credit card and we would have that. :)

That would be pretty ingenious for weed patch protection, to use pyscholgical warfare to try to keep people out?
I would worry more about the fish-hooks dangling at face level and the rat-traps rigged with a 12 gauge shell for a Dope Growing operation.

Of course i was joking around about BigFoot, in Pit's case you know it's a fairly "new" carving, so it's probably one of two things:
Authentic Tribal/ modern day American Natives practicing their culture, or, a non-native American duplicating that practice.
That's just my uneducated guess.

Or it's just like a hoax, gag, someone carved a head, went hiking, and hung it there. But they would have had to have the knowledge of the native culture's rituals.

Either way, it's a very very interesting find.
My finds are dumb in comparision, maybe a deer skull, or a tree with "Jimmy loves Mary" carved in it.

Good find Pit.

Cool Find 'Ol Bud  I don't believe in VooDoo or "BlackMagic" so I wouldn't be too worried about that, but if Maisy saw & or could hear something then I would have been on high alert ! Just weired that the object was hanging there & looks to be freshly made & at the same time Maisy was on high alert. Keep us posted if you find anything out !
Thanks for the pics 'Ol Bud !

Very interesting! I was going to ask if you pack heat Pitdog, but I don't think you can in Canada?
