Good nessmuk knife to get

I really really really enjoy my JK pocket muk. Such a wonderful knife.

Old pic, I'll have to snap a new one.

I LOVE that Nessmuk, What a beauty!
Great combo too

Here's one that is probably not what you are looking for but I've never posted a pic of it before. Made by Ariel Salaverria of Buenos Aires. Weighs in at half a pound less the sheath.

That's a beautiful knife Gary

honestly, and truly
i would go for the Kephart. the Nessmuk is a very cool design but really not as useful or as practical as the Kephart.
yes i have both. i do consider the Kephart to be one if not the best knives ever made. simple and practical and totally historically awesome.
Kephart, you won't be sorry.
i have a Nessmuk made by Koster, ML, and another custom by White?

markv...what is it that makes the Kephart more useful or practical than the Nessmuk, especially in the camp setting? I'd like to get an example of one but not both.

of course the Nessmuk and Kephart are two historically significant knives.
the Nessmuk has plenty of belly for skinning and blade point is in line with the axis for good drilling.
the Kephart has more straight blade for slicing and batoning. Kephart will also drill like Nessmuk. i can't say whether Nessmuk would work well for batoning cause i've never tried it.
makes me wonder if i'm selling the Nessmuk short?
i tend to use a knife for whatever chore it will do. stirring a pot of chili, scraping mud off my boots, making wooden cooking utensils in camp etc.
if the knife is comfortable to work with and does the job i'm happy.
maybe i should take the Nessmuk to the woods next time. ???

The cost of a Condor Kephart is low enough that if you don't like it, you can unload it without much or any net loss. However, if you want a fine fit and finish, then you'll want one of "jewels" — Bark River, customs, etc. Just make sure the price fits the budget.

Me, all I did was sand off the black blade coating from my Condor.

here are some of my homemade muks, modified Russels and Old Hickory. All of these commercial skinning and butcher knives get razor sharp and hold an edge well
