Good News, Bad News

Congrats on their arrival   ... mine are still on the way. :D

My bad news... the postman left my FBM LE laying in a puddle, halfway in the road!!!  I'm just happy that by the time I got home it was still there. I picked up the box and the BEAST ripped right thru that soggy box. :D

I thought signature confirmation came with insurance. I don't think they'd want to pay because they left a package in the open and it was stolen.

Signature confirmation does not come with insurance, those are separate. Signature confirmation only means that they have to have someone sign for it, if it is damaged or lost during transit there is no insurance to cover that.

I was told that on anything insured over $100, signature is automatically required. I guess that was wrong because I have had them leave boxes on my doorstep as well.

Same with our postage over here.
They left a $2000 box sitting at my front door for everybody to grap.
It was already payed for and I'm pretty sure they would have refused to pay if it was lost.
I almost got a heart attack when I came home.

Forget the fact that they'd pay for it. Think of it this way: You'd have to wait several months AGAIN for another shipment. ARRGGGHHH!!!!!!

I'm wearing my "Bully" hat when I go back to the PO ;)

:D:D

You and Amy-O should visit your respective POs with Flying Tigers strapped to the hip. It appears that the USPS needs some serious protocol adjustments. Fortunately I live in GestaPO infested NJ where they make you sign for postcards. No fear of them leaving without a sig. Go get 'em!

Same thing has happened to me a few times. One time my dogs got to an RW that was delivered. They chewed the hell out of the box, put a snag or two on the sheath, but the RW was unscathed. ;) The USPS can be very inconsistant in my neck of the woods.

But at least you got your goodies bro. Congrats.

Well, I think I can explain what happened. It appears that this particular package was NOT insured. It is marked Priority Mail, with a Delivery Confirmation label, and the postage was only $6.10. I cannot speak for Busse, but it has been my observation that some companies choose to not insure their shipping. I assume they make the business decision that the risk of occasional loss is relatively low, compared to the fixed cost of $5 -10 worth of insurance on each package. In effect, they are self-insured.

I know, I know, you want PICS. soon, soon little piggies. It's been a good week for INFI, as FBMLE #14 arrived from Cobalt yesterday. :D

Man what a coincidence, the jerks at my local post office just did that to me with my SRKW Howler and it was stolen. Eric has been awesome in helping me take care of it though.

Chris

Lately my deliveries have been placed in one of the locked package boxes at the neighborhood mail box- very convenient but not getting a signature to prove delivery. Previously I had to go to the Post Office and sign for each box.

I figured it was a change in shipping practice at Busse.

I was out of town on the weekend the Fusion Bowie was delivered. It hung in a USPS box by a large rubber band from the flag on my mailbox on a heavily traveled street from mid-morning on Saturday to early Sunday evening when I returned! How that awesome knife survived Saturday night hanging out there I'll never know.

i mailed myself to amy a couple of weeks ago and ended up back here....

"return to sender" what a pisser :thumbdn: :grumpy:

That's because I didn't drive past your house while it was out there. :D

Ship 'em to work.

We have the same horror stories here. I get all my "interesting" mail sent to my work address. The young man that used to work in the mailroom was so honest he squeaked, and is a knife and gun nut as well. He always brought me my packages the instant they came in, and I'd let him check out the merchandise.

His reserve unit was activated last year, and he headed over to the land of heat and sand. I bought him a Camp Tramp during the last Ganza to take with him. Amy did me a gigantic favor, and got it to me prior to him leaving for pre-deployment training. That way we did not have to worry about mailing it to him.

(He decided he did not want to take such a valuable knife with him, he was afraid he would lose it. So he's getting it as a welcome home present in December when he comes back.)

Eric, I wish you luck with your smackdown of the naughty USPS folks. Remember, it's not the transportation that makes the Post Office charge so much, it's the storage.

I live in a large apartment building in Manhattan. Everything I have ever received by UPS or mail has been delivered to the valet (sounds fancy, but it is not) - until now. If no one has been home in our apartment to go downstairs to sign a receipt, it means a trip to the post office. For me it is a pain, especially since it is safe once it comes into the building!
