I purchased a limited edition knife from a member here. The knife did not include one of the items that was sold with the knife. It was not mentioned in the post that it was not included and it was not pictured. However I feel that being a limited edition exclusive the seller had to know taking anything reduces the value quite a bit. I paid a premium over the original price so I feel deceived. I had three people selling and chose the one with the best feedback. I asked him about it and his response was "yeah i planned on keeping it and didn't include it in the description". I feel as if any knife collector, especially one who has a lot of feedback on here should know better. What do you think?

His response is a bit poor, but don't plan on anything not listed coming with the knife. Though if he has the items it would be appropriate to send them to you-pointless to break up a package IMO-but I am not positive exactly what is missing, and it's value(stand alone).
Don't think I would leave negative, maybe neutral and that is mostly on the attitude. Likely best to just skip the feedback all together, and leave it at this thread. While nothing wrong was done it will inform others to ask ?.

Well a Foghorn Leghorn fan has spoken. I accept defeat. I still think it wasn't totally honest but I do accept it's my fault.

The best way to avoid future disappointments, is to ask the seller if what they’re selling includes everything. Never assume that the seller has your best interests at heart, even if they have a stellar rep. It sucks, but that’s how it is. Most if not all of us have made this mistake. You’ll know better next time.

Never assume and always ask questions before you post "I'll take it".....no matter how trivial the question sounds.

Breaking up a set seems like something that should be affirmatively disclosed (such as “Im keeping the coin” or “the firesteel” or whatever, a commemorative booklet). Did the description say it was “complete” or “like new”, if so, that is pretty unfair and dishonest.

The buyer is obligated to ask for clarity on just what it is they are buying, and since the seller did not include it in the picture, I dont think you will get too far absent some text leading you to think it had everything.

Sad turn of events, not a seller I would want to do business with. Maybe the seller will agree to unwind the deal since the set is broken and there was some confusion on your end?

It seems everyone who has been around or is well rated seems to think its just business as usual. I guess I'll just keep my wits about me in the future. caveat emptor

Yeah, I'm on the side of the consensus. If it wasn't in the pictures, and was not mentioned, don't expect it, even if it was part of the original package. I try to include a verbal description or photos of everything that will be included. So people know what they are getting and what they are not. Rule of thumb would be: don't assume you are getting anything they do not show or mention, and if it's important to you make sure you ask about it.

Not saying this is the way it should be, but it's the way it is.

Just had a somewhat similar thing happen. Had a knife on my ebay watch list for a bit, as a potential replacement for one that I had that wasn't quite as nice. So then while having a few beers one night, noticed that ebay issued a 15% off everything coupon, so I bought the knife, and then the next day something dawned on me and I looked at the pics again...didn't see the Certificate of Authenticity that it should have. The listing mentioned "paperwork", so I asked the seller about it, and sure enough, no CoA. Totally my bad. So now I'm torn between keeping mine (that has the CoA) and reselling/returning the new one, or keeping the new one and selling mine.

Also had it work out the other way...bought an Al Mar Fang II off ebay that had the box, but no sheath (the listing even specifically said there was no sheath), but when it arrived it had the sheath.
