I've developed the custom that when I'm getting a new knife, a photo of that knife becomes my background on my computer. Usually I find a pic on these forums, or google images. I can't seem to find a sutable photo of the carbon Caly ZDP. Can one of you help me out?

Thanks!!!

I'm very excited about getting this one. I've always liked my grey Caly Jr., and this one seems like a really deluxe version.

Well, mine's just a bit different from the regular production version (no Boye Dent) :D but should give you something to look at and yes, the Caly 3 is worth getting excited about.

nice pics. I'm so close to buying the vg10 g10 version. Does it look the same on the back liners? with the metal all the way through? anyway nice pics im excited to get mine

Nice photos!!

Can anyone tell me what that symbol is? The one on the right side of the blade.

Thanks..............frank

I just picked up the Poliwog for my gf today and its a beautiful little EDC-type knife. She loves it but one thing we're both wondering is what the angular design on the side of the blade means. The Caly has the same design.

Can it be that no one knows what the symbol on the right side of the blade represents?

Is anyone else curious?

Shall I write to Spyderco for an answer?

Frank

wowo nice pics. I am awaiting my g-10 caly 3 as we speak, I've never handled one so i hope it fits my hand nice. if i like it a lot i'll be sure to pick up the carbon fiber version as well.

Just received my Caly 3 in the mail yesterday. First off just let me say that if you are thinking about a new edc, make this knife it. It is ridiculous how nice this knife is: silky smooth, perfect size, perfect weight...just so damn pretty.

I am usually a benchmade fan, but I don't hold loyalty to knife companies. I'll buy whatever i think makes the most sense. I dont care who makes it. I used to carry mini-grip as my edc but the handles are just too small...uncomfortably so.. i just got sick of it not fitting my hand correctly. Who are they making these for? 4 year olds!?
Ditched the mini-grip and carried a delica FRN..it was nice because the handles are big, and it was cheap so i wasn't afraid to bash it up or cut on concrete or whatever. However, the delica had just too much blade play for my likings. Rocked laterally big time, and up and down slightly..i hate any blade play.
Finally ordered the Caly3. Zero blade play, excellent quality and amazing sharpness. I have read other members posting the Caly3 as the sharpest out of the box knife they have ever handled...this is true. Its beyond scary sharp..its almost too sharp..if that makes sense.
Caly3 is a great edc knive..and i'm only 2 days into mine.

Torm, I've read and re-read all the posts, and I still don't get it.

Is it "Sal's name", or is it "Yeppperrrsss"? In what language? Is it some type of abstract representation?

I'm afraid that you'll need to be very literal with me.

Thanks..................Frank

It is the Sal's emblem. Notice the resemblance to the letters S A L.

Sorry Frank, yeppperssss was just an extension or yeppers, which is an extension of yep, which is western American slang for yes. The extra letters in yeppers were added because you can't make posts shorter than 10 letters, so I added letters to circumvent this limitation.

The symbol does indeed stand for Sal, as in Sal Glesser, the man main of Spyderco, owner, engineer, designer, sailer, diver, biker, fast car driver, and measurer of cereal.
