Good quality bowie?

Thanks for the answers. I have been looking as Busse, but am slightly concerned about buying something that fine for limited use.
You wouldn't get away with one of their bowies even for camping in my part of the world. ;)

Budget? We talking basic bushcraft/shelter building type tree falling scenarios?

Budget will dictate a lot of your answers.

I'm not entirely sure at the moment. It is something I need to consider when the time comes.

Ontario 12 inch Machete. Indestructible and low cost.

As it happens I own an SP10. Not bad, but the steel is too soft, and prone to dents.
I also had a Ontario kukri, which I destroyed within a few days on small tree branches.

As much as I love the bowie grind, it is not the best chopper. Bussie makes some nice ones. I also like Bill Siegle's knives. He makes some great chopping knifes. Siegleknives

No, however variety is nice. A kukri is rather effortless.

if you want a chopper, try a Himalayan Import kukhuri

First on the list naturally of course, but as previously mentioned; variety.
