Bump that budget up to around $77 shipped and give the Spyderco Manix 2 a look from Cutleryshoppe. Built like a tank, G!0 scales, caged ball lock, made in the USA and uses 154CM steel for under $80 delivered.

That's a very nice blade Reeek, or bump it up another $15 or so and get an Endura 4 G-10, lockback, full flat grind, another tank!

Two great choices.

I was thinking about buying a combination of spyderco tenacious, for more hard-core cutting, and a benchmade monochrome for less intense use. Together it's just under 70$. What do you reccomend for a single knife for around that price range? Nice but also very sturdy.

Spyderco Endura VG-10 combo edge. IMO VG-10 is better than the standard 154CM and any Sandvic steel. The Enduras are built like mini tanks and carry nicely in the pocket with all kinds of clip options.
