Im trying to get a good EDC setup and im missing good flashlight, id prefer not to spend to much over 100 dollars. I have been looking around but there seems to be so many brands and models out there i need a little help.

while im at it, my EDC so far is
Keys (worn around my neck)
Zt0350 and Spyderco Tenacious
Gshock mudman watch
wallet
HTC thunderbolt phone
(soon to add a flashlight)

Im new here, so if i did anything wrong feel free to let me know and it would be nice to know if there are some essential items im missing.

Fenix makes great flashlights. I carry one nearly everyday an really like it. I have the PD20 and it's 190 lumens and uses one CR123 battery. I think I paid $45 for it.

Sometimes I carry a Maratac AAA light around my neck. I like it a lot too for a small light. It's not nearly the light that the Fenix is, but it still has a place in certain situations.

Oh, and you're missing a gun.

Have a look at the 4Sevens Q mini - I EDC mine and use it all the time.

The PD20 has a nice pocket clip and is very easy to carry. Cargo pockets should be no problem at all.

Fenix LD05. Perfect EDC light. It's long and slim and rides perfect in your pocket. Hardly noticeable. The pocket clip is nice and tight and can be adjusted. The best part is the clicker button. It's also nice and tight and doesn't activate unless you put some positive pressure on it. I had a 4Sevens penlight and the dang thing would always be on in my pocket. I think it just had a super weak system. Also, I like that the LD05 has 3 levels of brightness and only 3 levels. Honestly, I don't need the SOS mode and the turbo hypnotic blinking stage. It's light, easy to carry in pocket, works when I want it to and only then, has the levels I need, runs on 2 AAA batteries, is plenty bright enough, waterproof (you can carry it in your teeth and not worry about your slobber ruining your light), has a warranty, looks good and is affordable.

i carried a fenix P1 for a few years and had a great experience in terms of reliability, usability, and battery life. pretty bright too, and they updated it (since my version) with a brighter and more efficient LED.

right now i'm carrying a sunwayman M10R, which is comparable to the P1 but brighter and has a much better user interface (with the magnetic rotating ring). but it was also more expensive and slightly longer than the P1. my roommate has a sunwayman V10R which is better in terms of UI, IMO.

good luck!!

Fenix LD01- small, 1 AAA, 3 level light, perfect for EDC- at least I'm very happy with mine.

I carry a surefire. I dont recall the name maybe g6 or g3. I was about $40. Good amount of light and runs for 12 hours on two cr123s. Tough as nails too. If that is too big then check out the small key chain fenix light maybe. It runs on one aaa.

Have you considered adding a sak to your edc? I use the screwdrivers and bottle opener on mind all the time.

Cant go wrong with a Fenix. It offers the same quality as the American made brands but they cost a lot cheaper because its made overseas.
I like the Fenix LD10 or LD20. It has all the settings you need like strobe, moonlight, etc. And it takes standard aa batteries which is very convenient.

I'm carrying the Fenix LD10 for almost two years now. Good flashlight, affordable, uses AA-batteries which you can buy at a lot of places, and it survived a few multiweek camping trips. It's also small enough to carry in the pocket every day.

I have a 4Sevens Quark Tactical AA that I really like. Great brightness and run time in a small package. I also carry a Fenix E01 which is a single AAA. Can't go wrong with either company IMHO.

i second the quark AA tactical

I got a Streamlight Stylus Pro, uses 2 AAA;s it is the size of a fat ink pen and cost me $20 at a local gunshow, they have one that only take 1 AAA. Very handy, I use at work to inspect bolt hole to check threads, but very useful at other times like trying to walk in rough country in the dark and not wanting to break a leg. Won't burn the paint off your house or replace a light sabre but tough and priced nicely and uses regular batteries.

Any of the Fenix or Quark flavors would do you good. I have most of them, it seems, and generally gravitate toward the Quark Mini 123 for EDC. Its teeny, but puts out a ton of light. I feed mine with rechargeable batteries for "free" light, and use a small belt holster from a Fenix light. Swap out the battery for a new rechargeable every few days and you are good to go.

Edit: there is nothing wrong either with getting a $15 Fenix E01 and sticking it on your keychain. It does not put out a ton of light, but in a dark environment it is plenty for navigation. Its regulated to maintain a constant output over 8-10 hours, with several hours of diminishing light thereafter. Good stuff, either as a primary or backup light.

I carry a Fenix E01 on my keyring...It's a perfect, simple little AAA light that is very bright with a good "run time".

Wow , I'm going to look into those SolarForce LED's... nice prices.

I carry Maratac AAA in jeans watch pocket and a Fenix PD20 in my gear bag. I use the M-AAA all the time and cant say enough good things about it.
