Good small edc flashlight choices? Would appreciate the help...

my two favorites are the Surefire Lumamax LX2 and the Nitecore EX10. Both are small, powerful, and tough.

My recomendation is to stay away from 123 batteries. They're a pain to buy and expensive and with the output you get out of a AA or AAA these days you really don't need 123's.

CR123's arent like they used to be.
widely available now and not expensive at all

8 bucks a 4pack

15 dollars a dozen
(places like batteryjunction etc...)

I used to be anti cr123 as well, but once
I got a light that used them, and was forced to check into
cr123's,I found I like them better.
Main difference I have found between AA and CR123's
the cr123's seem to last MUCH longer than the other batteries.

I'm going to give my vote for a 4Sevens Q-mini, small but bright, and CR123's are cheap......if you know where to order online. I just order a few every so often so i have a stock on hand.

Lights i'm going to buy for my keychain here in the next week is the itp A3 and A1.

Not sure what he's talking about - I spent about $20 on enough 123 batteries to last me approximately a year and a half or two years at this rate. AA or AAA would be slightly more convenient, I suppose, but only slightly.

This LD20 has worked great for me the last 2 years, flashlights have come a long ways since the Mag Light days.

I've been hard pressed to find something to replace this E01. AAA, single mode, good illumination for general use.

I carry a minimaglite led...

Have lots of other lights but the minimag is by far the bed IMO... Just fits my uses better

Any of the Fenix or Quark flavors would do you good. I have most of them, it seems, and generally gravitate toward the Quark Mini 123 for EDC. Its teeny, but puts out a ton of light. I feed mine with rechargeable batteries for "free" light, and use a small belt holster from a Fenix light. Swap out the battery for a new rechargeable every few days and you are good to go.

Edit: there is nothing wrong either with getting a $15 Fenix E01 and sticking it on your keychain. It does not put out a ton of light, but in a dark environment it is plenty for navigation. Its regulated to maintain a constant output over 8-10 hours, with several hours of diminishing light thereafter. Good stuff, either as a primary or backup light.
I had the little key chain one and gave it to a young man that rode his horse out to my place and stayed until after dark.I turned it on and tied it to the back his saddle so he wouldn't get hit by a car on his 5 mile ride back home.

I carry a Quark Mini 123 in neutral tint on my keychain, and it's a great light if you don't mind a twisty and something bulkier than AA/AAA form factor lights. Switching modes can be a little sensitive, at least on my older model.

I just replaced the older Q5 version of the iTP A3 EOS Upgrade (basically same as the Maratac) on my GF's keychain with the newer XP-G R5 version. EXCELLENT light and incredible value at around $20 for 3 easy to switch modes and good runtimes. I would not be averse to carrying this little guy on my keychain at all, but I prefer the brighter light and longer life of the Quark in CR123. If you're just starting off in EDC flashlights, you really can't go wrong giving the iTP a try. Even if you go on to something else, you're only out $20, and now you have a spare light :) I used to carry the E01, but the few extra bucks for the iTP is easily worth it in my opinion.

For bigger lights, I carry a Surefire E2DL in my EDC backpack, and a Quark 2xAA when out camping.

I think it really depends on how much light you need. I tend to take a Streamlight Stylus Pro nowadays, simply because I usually never need that much light. If I needed more, I'd likely take one of the 4sevens lights. Probably a Quark mini.

I've not carried any of my other EDC lights, since I got my Quark Ti Mini 123 a few months ago. I love this little light! Supposedly, they've got an even brighter, more modern LED version out now, but I'm pretty damn happy with this one. It rides perfectly in the little 5th pocket of my jeans and doesn't get in the way; no clip to scratch on anything, etc...
