Good small fixed blade for utility purposes.

I just read a good article in TK magazine about the Benchmade DropPoint Rant. 4.5 inches of 440C steel with a good handle for under $50.00. Might be worth looking into.

For a utility knife, take a look at the Bark River TUSK. It has a Wharnie/sheepsfoot blade, at just the right angle, and is a incredible cutter. Highly recommended.

lots of good choices to pick from here... i would also say check out bark river knives, as well as blind horse knives...

See if you can't score one of the new thin active dutys from the busse company store (not to be confused with bussecombat's website). They go quick when the store has them but they seem to be restocking from time to time.

Another vote for the Swedish Mora knives ... if you're on the ragweedforge.com site, make sure to check out the Frosts #893 fishing knife for only $15:

It has a full flat grind which will make it a much better slicer than the standard Mora grinds. Being a fishing knife with blade made of Sandvik 12C27 it should withstand water very well.

If you would consider going up to a 3.5" blade, I suggest the Spyderco Perrin Street Beat. Also look at Bark River Knives, Fallkniven or maybe a Busse Game Warden.

Bob Dozier. If you can afford to put a little more coin into it, he has a number of excellent quality utility knives in the 3" blade range. My EDC is a Straight Personal with black micarta scales. They come with an excellent horizontal kydex sheath which can be snapped on and off the belt.

If you aren't looking to spend that much, Dozier also sells the sheaths for other makers knives as well, if you were to find another knife you like.

$100 is not bad for a tough user friendly knife.

If you can only have one this is mine.

Cold Steel offers the finn bear, canadian belt knife, roach belly

My Helle Fire arrived on the monday following my ordering it...3 days over a weekend is very fast service. The blade fits the hand very nicely...is more than sharp enough from the factory, I love the way the sheath snaps in the back against the body...won't accidentally open this one on a snag. The sheath is also contoured to the grip and holds it securely. Used it to cut some chicken monday nite...love the way it cuts. This summer it will get a trail work out but I can tell it will end up being my main FB for a while.
