I was at my old high school today helping my shop teacher set up for this coming year and we found an old 2 hp 3 phase 220 v motor in a corner. He said if I hauled it off I could have it and now I am the proud new owner of this beast. I'll try to post some pictures when I can.

There it is, I do have one question though, how can I tell what kind of enclosure it has?

Where are you going to find three phase power??? I guess you don't have a home shop. I think the Type # will give you the enclosure. Maybe there is an electmotrician out there that will tell you.

I also don't have a 220 socket available. We're having a new line put in the garage for tools and the good news is I only have to pay half, just have to come up with it now.

You need a three phase motor to use a VFD speed control with single phase.
