Can anyone tell me of 1 good supplier where I can get various steels, brass sheet, brass rod, nickel silver, and hardware? Or at least point me in the right direction. I'm getting ready to start my first knife, and I'm trying to get my materials togather.

One supplier for everything is non existent if you want a variety of sizes, alloys, and tools. I buy my stuff from various suppliers.

For brass and copper rod.

I buy my steel from Aldo, Burton, and anyone who offers a good deal on steel. You might want to try kelly cupples if you want a variety in one order.

I buy my cobalt drill bits, files, and sandpaper from a local hardware store.

For forge supplies I use Darren Ellis.

My grinder is from grizzly but I buy my low grit belts from J&L. They stock quite a few items including W1 and O1.

I buy my silk ito from shadow of leaves. They also sell sword fittings, cotten ito, leather ito, ho wood, and lacquers.

Sharpton is a great supplier of water stones.

Welcome to the addiction, if you make a list of the sizes, alloys, and tools you want I will try to find them. A knife part supplier might have every thing you need but I like to not limit myself to just what one site has.

Thanks for all the good sources everyone, I may take you up on your offer,Dan. Ijust need to make a final decision on what to make for my first knife.

I get most of my steel from Aldo and Mace, I just ordered a bunch from Kelly Cuppels, I will never order from Admiral again. I am getting 11 bars from Kelly for about what I paid for three bars of not as good steel from admiral. I just ordered abrasive belts from Tracy Mickley last night, good selection, good prices. I get refractory and forgemaking supplies from Darren Ellis, and stabilized handle wood from Delbert Ealy (Del makes great damascus billets too but I make my own)
