I have been searching around, but I figured it is easier and better to dip into the knowledgeable pool of information here. What are good sources for barstock, as far as variety, prices, service, etc...

I know there is a lot of opinions and experience on this one!

Well,
Most of the Knifemaker supply shops have a good selection of steel for knifemakeing.

Texas Knifemakers Supply
K&G Finishing Supplies
Sheffield's

I buy my O1 from MSC Industrial supply, Starret O1. They also have other tools steels to choose from.

Admiral Steel has a lot of steels and a lot of sizes, too. They carry ATS-34, 440-C, O-1, D-2, A-2, 5160, 1095, etc. Never ordered from them, though. You can also get D-2 planer blades from some people, although you're limited to about 5/32" thickness and 1" width.

Reven: The Pacific Machinery looks very interesting. What sizes do they sell steel in? Also, I couldn't find a price list on thier site. Did I miss that somewhere also?

Sincerely,
Adam

Adamantium,
I only checked out the O1 on Pac Mach site. The minimum thickness it came in was 1/2" thick...I guess it would make a good axe.
