Good Stuff that Happened Today

13 mile hike through the woods with my dog. Nice way to start the day.
 
Today was Siesta Key Beach with the woman. I love Sarasota. I do miss the mountains though.
 
Just saw "My Blue Heaven", and it is a classic throwback. Funny movie with Steve Martin and Rick Moranis.
 
After a year of bicycling and riding buses I got my car registered yesterday. I am mobile.

I had my first day of school, and it went very well. I am really excited about this year, and I have a feeling the students are going to excel in their academic endeavors. Plus I am trying to plan a field trip to a forest preserve. We'd use GPS in a scavenger hunt and we could connect Social Studies (geography) to Math (calculations) to Science (wildlife and plants). Sorry to ramble, but it seems like an opportunity to shows these kids the outdoors....unfortunately many of the students have never been in a forest or seen much wildlife.
 
good work Mike. Glad you are back to teaching. You are an asset to any community you teach in.
