Good sword smith

If you have the budget, absolutely go with one of the options mentioned already. If you want to save some money, you can find a perfectly acceptable Damascus sword of the type you'd like in the Hanwei/Cas Iberia lineup.

a friend of mine offered to help me forge one myself... any advice. and before anyone ask no i have no experiance at all with smithing.

My advice is to purchase some books on knife making and make some knives before you try your hand at swords. I don't expect that advice to actually be heeded, but that's what I recommend.

Good luck with that... I would still advise if you want to do it yourself to get a bare blade from albion. Even experienced smiths have trouble with a sword heat treat, and getting a good balance and distal taper etc to come out right is very challenging.

Not trying to discourage you, but be prepared to fail the first time if you try to forge your own blade.

Triton thanks for the advice and i acualy planed to try a few knives first to get used to the work and gregorio i know i will fail many times before i make a good anything be it knives or swords...i have a question though what is a good steel to start working with

I would suggest purchasing a book called "The Complete Bladesmith" by Jim Hrisoulas. He talks about various steels and there advantages and disadvantages in there. There are other books of course that should be purchased as well, that's just the one I'm familiar with. There's one called "Handmade Knives" (I think that's right) and others.
