It's techniy legal, but it's not exactly right.Such an old thread but it left me wondering ... what's all the fuss with the word "clone" about ... ?
Ganzo took an Ontario RAT-1 (or ESEE) knife, changed the liner lock for an "axis" lock. With Spyderco Paramilitary they did the same. And is selling it legally.
Counterfeit is about making a knife looking like Tom Brown Tracker and selling it as Tom Brown Tracker, not as ... say ... John Black Scout.
Trying to get an illegal item on a forum such as bladeforums is stupid. But the world is full of clones that are sold legally.
If you can't make knives that aren't based on other companies known designs you shouldn't be making them.
I find it particularly discraceful that they know full well they can get away with it since they're all the way in China, plus they know those who buy their knives are probably not educated enough about knives to know why they shouldn't.
