If that is Tom Brown`s Tracker it is good to go!

You can try Chris Janokosky in Tok Alaska(Wilderness Survival Insitute).

Depending on what type of tracking you want to do, you might want to consider David Scott-Donelan's Tactical Tracking Operations School (TTOS). Here's some text from the TTOS web site:

"The Tactical Tracking Operations School (TTOS), founded by David Scott-Donelan, is the only civilian school in the USA, possibly the world, specializing in training officers from law enforcement, corrections agencies and military units in bold and aggressive man-tracking (mantracking) techniques leading to the recovery of armed and dangerous fugitives operating in wilderness, rural and sparsely populated areas. Using the combat tracking techniques pioneered by the Rhodesian Army Tracker Combat Unit (TCU) for use in counter-insurgency (COIN) situations, TTOS has successfully modified and developed those techniques for operational use around the world.

All TTOS instructors are highly and thoroughly trained in tactical/combat mantracking operations and techniques which they have used extensively during their law enforcement or military careers with elite military units such as the US Army Special Forces (SF), Marines (USMC), SEALS, Rhodesia's Special Air Service (SAS), Selous Scouts and South African Recces."

Good to Go!

Tom`s and Chris`s Schools teaches survival out in wilderness.

Scott-Donelan teaches out to get or find them in the wilderness.

BE A MAN AMONG MEN!!

So there you go. two types of tracking, good schools can`t beat it.

What exactly do you learn at tracker's school? I'd be interested if the information could teach you how to be a good bowhunter, but not if it's just going to show you how to chase various animals around the forest for no particular reason. Can anyone elaborate?

Thanks.

Is there anything like Tom Brown's type of service in Canada. British Columbia in particular since I live in Vancouver.

Tom Brown teaches everything, tracking, stealth, fire making, skinning, brain tanning and a lot more. Basically he teaches everything you need to live in the wilderness and be fat and happy. Just knowing how to track will make you a better bow hunter and knowing how to be stealthy even better. Remember there is more to tracking than just following depressions in the dirt and more to stealth than just being quiet. And remember the only difference between tracking an animal and tracking a man is that, depending on the situation, the man is more likely to try to hurt or kill you when you find him. Pressure releases are the same no matter what made the track.
As for a school like Tom's in the North West, there is Earth Walk North West in Washington state. It is run by Frank & Karen Sherwood, they were the head instructors at Tom Brown's for 15 years. They are just outside Seattle I believe. This is the closest school to Vancouver I know of.

Rumble, you might want to check out www.windwalker.ca . Wes Geitz is a student of Tom Brown's and offers very similar instruction. I haven't actually taken any of his classes, but I've attended his primitive skills gathering, Firemaker ( www.firemaker.org ) and it had some great stuff.

Since I have attended two schools in the past the one I favor by far is Mr. Donelan's TTOS. I will be attending his school in Columbus this June for the TTII. In my line of work this is the only school to go to.

This guy worked for Tom Brown

I just went to his scout class to kill a weekend; he seems to be a good teacher and was up on the subject matter. I have not been to a Tom Brown class and doubt I will go. I liked Kevin’s class because there was no prerequisite. From what I understand about Tom’s classes you have to start at the very bottom, which for me would be a big waste of time and money. Also Tom Browns classes deal a lot with the spiritual aspect of things, which is just not something I am interested in. I do want to go to a TTOS school and just missed the one that started here in AZ
