Good trail guides ?

I'm in DE and am looking for good trail guides in and around my state. I'm looking for up to date GOOD information.

I can't quite seem to find anything good online without searching each individual park then going to their site. There's got to be a trail site somewhere right? At least I hope so.

Also - Does anyone participate in hiking/camping groups? If so how are they and how did you get involved.

The backpacker .com has a forum with sections divided up by region of the country.

You could probably post there and they'd tell you of any websites plus hook you up with trail reports. You are in the Mid Atlantic which is my area too. I know of a lot of sites for trails in my area. My friend MrHyker/Mike posts there and he might be able to help you out. He's my trail guru.

Myright, one of my new goals of this forum is to use it as a launch for hiking/camping/primitive skills/survival skills groups.

Typing stuff online is one thing, but I have stated before this (this time in bold caps): THE INTERNET IS AT ITS BEST WHEN IT BRINGS LIKE-MINDED PEOPLE TOGETHER IN REAL LIFE, AND BONDS THEM TOGETHER.


Stay tuned for get-together info, within driving distance of Delaware.

I'd love to have some folks come backpacking with us this summer.

Also my friend the previously mentioned MrHyker offers group hikes in MD, VA, WV, PA. I've gone with him before:thumbup:

I'll keep my ear to the ground to find something in the area coming up. My wife is pregnant and is my hiking partner and I'm not a huge fan on heading out by myself unless my dog is with me.

Delaware doesn't offer much...:yawn:

It would be great to get to the point where we'd be able to organize some get togethers with some people here. There is a lot of survival and wilderness knowledge on this forum that I could learn from.


I don't have 5 months off a year though....;)
