So I'm about to go out of town for about a week for a camping trip. I'm looking for a good way to keep them sharp without having to take my sharpmaker. If I lost that baby all my knives would cry.

Lansky Turnbox? Has 2 preset angles and 2 sets of rods. I got mine for around 20 bucks.

I take a Spyderco double stuff stone and a small kangaroo hide strop I got from HandAmerica?, I think.

I use the double stuff...

The Spyderco double stuff is excellent. I'm a complete novice to sharpening and I have been getting great results from my Double Stuff.

If you use it often to maintain your edge, I recommend a Flexxx Pocket Strop!

I cut up a 800ish grit ceramic rod into 4" segments and carry that around everywhere to touch up my blades. It only cost me a few dollars for an 8" rod. Works great, is cheap and compact.

I got the Worksharp guided field sharpener for Christmas and it is a nice tool.
I took it on a weeklong camping trip recently and it really was nice to have along, as both my boys are turning into knife dudes themselves and spent a lot of time carving and cutting driftwood on the beach.

I went to Lowe's and picked up a Smith's Arkansas stone. Pretty small, maybe 1" x 2 1/2" Comes in a little pouch, I keep it in my work bag and I use it all the time. I just don't care for the edge I get off diamonds. But ymmv. I carry 1095 traditionals, super steel might (is) be different.

I'll add to the recommendations for the DMT Diafold. Either the Coarse + Extra Coarse (Blue & Black) or the Coarse + Fine (Blue & Red). For field sharpening, the former might actually be easier.
