I was looking for a decent knife that was more designed as a fighter knife. I was looking at the Sog Swedge but I know they aren't US made. I guess the reason I am wary of a Sog is I am afraid of buying from a company that uses sweatshops ( I hope I dont start a flaming post ) I like the sheath setup and such of the Swedge. So can someone give me a few USA made knives that have similiar setups? Or some insight on if Sog uses sweatshops?
Thanks

The Entrek USA RANGER was named for a US Army Ranger that I have known since he was 10 years old. He suggested that I sharpen the top of the Bison. It was a good idea. The Ranger has a 1/4 inch thick 9 inch long blade and is 14 inches overall. Suggested retail price is $300.00. FREE SHIPPING IN THE USA.

The Entreks are nice, but I really hate beadblast finishes. I had a Force Recon, but I traded it for a Bark River.

I guess I am looking for something a little smaller more compact that I can wear around daily. I have been looking at a Esee Izula 2. Its smaller. Appears to have a molle compatible sheath and its not to badly priced.

Have not handled one but I really like the look of the Bark River STS 5.

Yeah I didn't check out the Swedge before I replied to the OP, apologies. That said you should still get a Ka-bar Fighter/Utility if you don't have one. It's a solid choice for anybody who loves knives and especially values made in U.S.A. ones. One of the few knives that are more than just a knife and actually has a reasonable price for materials used.

For reasons that would be more suited to the Practial/Tactical section of the forums, I wouldn't choose a Swedge or similar design for actual fighting/combat.

I may have to get that as well. I was thinking a knife sort of like the Benchmade Snody instigator or like a push dagger. Something small I can conceal moderately. For true combat I would think you would want a hilt or cross piece for sure. Also any knife can be tactical no?

You can get an amzingly nice custom neck knife for just a a little bit more than you would pay for the swedge.

Those are just the available knives you cna order others if there isnt anything to your likeing but youd have to wait.

Tops alos makes a large variety of neck knives with a militaristic styling, also mad ein the usa and high quality at a good price.

a personal favorite of mine is the nemesis knives arch ally: http://www.nemesis-knives.com/fixed.htm

Nemesis knives dont get alot of play on the forums because of their small selection but everything they make is top notch.

Hope these ideas help you find what youd want, i think you (or anyone else) would do well to just drop the money on a crawford if they wanted a nice functional neck knife, he does what he does very well and youd be supporting a custom maker.

oh sorry i forgot to mention anything by fred perrin is the bees knees, i have one of his custom made bowies and its probably one of the best knives ive ever even handled, his mid-teck knives are awesome copies of his customs, and can be had for under 100 dollars, also emerson makes a great copy of the lagriffe,

in case you cnat tell i have an affinity for small blades that can cause alot of damage

also id war against push daggers, as great as they are, they are illegal most places, and you want to be the good guy (at least in the eyes of the law)

Thanks alot Razorsdescent thats alot of great info! Thanks to everyone else who has replied or may reply.

Any knife can be tactical but some knives really are better and there is some thought to what is best for you personally for the most optimum choice. Not every body has the same range of motion or they have some training that makes certain movements more second nature to them.

Depending on where you live makes a difference not only the knife laws but also being able to get through heavy clothing. Some blade designs are a lot more versatile and depending on what your job is or what you have to do you might use a knife to move a person to block a doorway, put them in a different room, etc.

Very thick knives and dark coloring really means zero. Too many handles have a horrible design also.
