Goodbye Ray

I just found out about Ray Charles.
I feel his loss, I loved his music.
I even liked it when Willie Nelson did covers of his songs.
Ray had a good life and made the most of his 73 years.
He beat blindness, heroin and God knows what else.
He was playing longer than many musicians live!
50 years onstage.

Let that be a lesson to us all. Make the most of your life.

His music was a gift. I think I'll play his version of America the Beautiful, in honor of him and President Reagan.

He was blind from the age of 7 and an orphan by the age of 15.
Not an easy start.

Ray Charles was one of the musicians I grew up listening to, along with Elvis, Roy Orbison and a few others, ( my parents record collection! ). I dont think I ever heard anyone sing with such emotion as 'The Genius'.
