The masters are old and they're departing
one by one, leaving long shadows. We have
a few more but they're old. Today's a sad
day and there is another sad day coming
inevitably, you know what I'm talking about.

How can we ever fill their shoes?

Truth is we can't, ever, but the young
are the keepers of these arts and we
have to keep them alive, it's our calling
in life.

Let's train hard.

Loss of a master is always a terrible loss. When it's a young master, the loss is even more devastating. On the basis of what was achieved in a young life, think of all the greatest such masters would achieve in longer lives plus all the lives of students they would touch and change throughout those lost years.

Punong Guro Edgar Sulite, Guro Ted Lucaylucay, most recently Pendekar Herman Suwanda, and of course the Great Bruce Lee.

Perhaps it's destiny that some stars burn brighter and fade sooner.
