Thanks for sharing! But those aren't bright enough for me ... I use the 150 watt exterior flood light led's in moffatt goose necks and they are amazing.
Yep I use: Hykolity Outdoor Led Flood Light, Waterproof PAR38 LED Bulb, Dimmable, 15W=150W, 5000K Daylight, 1600lm, E26 Base, UL Listed (6 Pack)
Call moffatt... They will sell individual parts. I've replaced my hoods several times back when I was using different (larger) bulbs that would cause them to crack. My Moffatt light, the switch broke somehow. Only way to turn it on or off is to unscrew the bulb. Any ideas?
They fit fine just take your aluminum shield out... I've been running mine almost a year without issue this way."Hykolity Outdoor Led Flood Light, Waterproof PAR38 LED Bulb, Dimmable, 15W=150W, 5000K Daylight, 1600lm, E26 Base, UL Listed (6 Pack)"
I just got them they are too big for the Moffatt light. These are like 4.75" wide (at the lens). And the opening of the Moffatt light is about 3.5"
This is what I got as per above recomendation. Need to figure out the right size
Off the Moffatt website I think I might need to use "A16"? Whatever that designation means.

Edit: still searching and still don't quite understand the sizing. But, I think the Moffatt needs a “PAR20” or "PAR30 Short", if you want a focused beam "Flood Lamp" type bulb.
But look at the ad before you buy as some of the "PAR30 Short" are saying 3.75" wide at the lensIf anyone has used the PAR30-Short please chime in. From my searching on Amazon I see some saying that the PAR30-Short is 3.75" wide at the lens and that won't work.
From my research there are these sizes...
Bulb Shape Bulb SizePAR20 3.50" x 2.50" PAR30 Short 3.50" x 3.75" PAR30 Long 4.50" x 3.75" PAR38 5.00" x 4.75"
Duh, yeah remove the inner shield, just two screws. I knew that. Just testing youThey fit fine just take your aluminum shield out... I've been running mine almost a year without issue this way.
Iirc it's just one screw you have to remove
Also you will need to remove the Amazon link from your post... That's not allowed![]()
I missed this post until now. Good info. I'm now thinking it best to probably send my six-pack order back to amazon and just going to Home Depot and try a few lights and see what I like best, as HD has good return policy. But also good to know that all of these PAR shapes will probably work with the aluminum shield removed. I can also see the light from the side of the lens on the PAR38 maybe being distracting, but that might be remedied by some aluminum tape.I find the PAR16 and PAR20 sizes easier to work around than the large PAR38. The PAR16 is 2" and the PAR20 is 2.5". PAR38 is 4.75" across. The smaller size allows them to be placed closer to the work and does not have as much side-beam light to get in your eyes. I use them at 7W (75W equivalent), 120° beam, 5000K.
A PAR16 7W bulb at 6" sheds the same amount of light on the grinder platen as a PAR38 15W bulb at 12". A PAR20 7W at 6" sheds 130% the light as a PAR38 at 12". It has to do with the lumens available vs the rule off inverse square.
