Got a Delica on the way..

I ordered it a while ago. It takes like 10 to 12 days for them to ship it to Sweden, but I still keep checking USPS on the Internet like five times a day, to see how the order is doing. Not sure if it's considered sane behavior, but I really can't wait for it to arrive :D.

I have a waved Endura since before, which I bought before I became a certified Spyder-nut. Back then I got it mostly because I liked the wave-function, but eventhough the wave is a very cool thing, I have since then realized that it is an awesome design in so many other ways as well. Might very well get some more Enduras in the future.

Right now I wanted a smaller knife though, so I chose the Delica. I got the fully serrated version in ZDP-189 and green handle. I have a feeling that I'm gonna wear it in my pocket pretty much all the time :). Before it arrives though I think I need to concentrate a little more on work and maybe a little less on knives. :D

My Delica just arrived today... PE regular run of the mill delica 4... Couldn't be happier... Feels really solid for such a thin folder....it's worth the wait.

I recently purchased a fully serrated "waved" Delica 4. It has been in my back pocket everytime I leave the house. I like it alot.

I also have the green ZDP-189 plain edge Delica. The Endura is great but too large for me to enjoy carrying.

I'm just wondering why you'd get fully serrated instead of a combo blade? You must do some pretty heavy duty cutting.

I don't know, I just really wanted a fully serrated blade. I know a lot of people prefer PE, but I really don't mind serrated, especially in a short blade.

I only carry mine for a back-up self-defense blade so I toyed with all versions and decided that a serrated edge would make some nasty cuts if necessary. Those are very sharp serrations.

I rotate a variety of other plain edge folders for general cutting tasks.

I used my PE delica out in the woods today for some bushcraft type tasks 1 or 2 bordering on what I'd consider abusive... I wouldn't make a practice out of it but I'm working on a tentative review on the knife and wanted to see how it handled...it passed with flying colors..it's an outstanding little knife... and my new edc.. the vg10 is a great steel... I'd personally like a liner lock and a full flat grind as opposed to the flat saber grind.. but those are just minor details over all for the price it is one heck of a blade.

I got my Native a couple of weeks back, and I have since went kind of nutty with the knife purchases. Walmart.com (from whom I ordered my Native) had both Enduras and Delica's, and by god, I ordered one of each. This is the benefit of a new job that actually pays, lol. I carried a Spydie for a lot of years, then I went for a long time without doing so, and I am making up for lost time, I guess.

Thanks to the generosity of BF member Haze and his 2000 post giveaway, I am now in possession of a G10 Delica. My first folding Spydie and my first piece with VG10.

The grippiness of the G10 is nothing short of extraordinary. No way this baby will ever slide out of your hand.

NIB sharpness was probably the best I've ever seen, hair poppin' sharp. But I think it's a good idea to remove a little metal from a factory edge, so I knocked it back a few degrees and polished it to hair-whittling sharp. Given the reluctance of the steel to give up metal that I witnessed, I'm willing to bet edge retention will be excellent. It was a pleasure to sharpen, no floppy burrs. And with the full flat grind on a thin blade this baby is an incredible slicer.

I was pleasantly surprised by how thin the knife is. I've been carrying it clipless in my pocket today and it's hardly noticeable. I'm a lefty and with most other folders haven't felt comfortable opening them with my right hand, but the big spydie hole makes it easy for me to open with either hand. One hand closing is also easier than I expected. The lock seems extremely solid. I did some spine taps on my hand and a table, no hint of failure.

All around, I have to say I'm lovin' this blade. It will get some use. Though I may need to check out a Military very soon ;)

Thanks Haze

Yeah, I got it yesterday.

I love it. The serrations are great, they cut through everything like nothing.
And it's scary sharp. I can literally cut shavings out of a hair with this edge.

I also believe I've become addicted to the Spyderdrop :D.

Yayyyy! Congrats. I've always found that one scallop of the SE is great for sharpening a pencil. Although that is rather archaic in the computer age...:o

It is archaic but it works great. I also sharpen pencils with my knives here in the office. For me and for a few partners I have arround.

The funny thing is that a pencil sharpener is the easiest way to make fine wood shavings out of pieces of wood for fire starting!
