Got a GEC 65 Ben Hogan? Post it here!

I love the look of these knives, especially that Northfield with the Antique Autumn Jigged Bone, but I'm hesitant to buy one because I'm in the same boat as Will Power - these are significantly larger (longer) than anything I normally carry, and I'm afraid that it would just end up sitting in a drawer. I do like how slim they look, though. Certainly tempting.

they are definitely longer, their tube is longer, this is messing up my cigar box where i keep my gecs. the 65 tube is longer than my 77s, 48s and my 15s tubes. which affects how many i can collect. i take it this is gec's longest knife? someone had a melon tester tho i think

Well, the fixed blades are longer.... but the hogans about as long as the longest folding knives GEC makes ;) The #21, #23, #63, #64 and #65 are all about 4 1/2" closed and have the long tubes. The #89s are only 4" closed.

Really like the #65. I'd like to pick up a Tidioute micarta sometime as well.

Despite my better judgement regarding whether or not I'll actually carry it because of the larger size, I'm really thinking about asking for that Northfield Antique Autumn Jigged Bone for Christmas. Such a good looking knife.

I was lucky enough to go there to GEC wedsnday and had a tour from mr. Howard himself. The Ben Hogan knife has a very cool story. When I get back in town next week I'll try to tell the story he told. I did buy a knife there but not the hogan. Kinda wish I would've. The quality they are putting out is very impressive. I would highly recommend them.

The story Mr Howard told me was Ben Hogan was a bad guy from the oil boom days and the French Kate knife is named after his lady friend and the Babylon Hill knife was the location of there brothel house. Lol.

yup, its not the golfer, apostlep has like a 40 minute long video on the ben hogan

The tour was very informative and Bill Howard was very on top of his outfit. The quality seemed very high. I stopped at Queen cutlery also and they seemed to be out of inventory. The building was very neat to see. So much history in that small town. I learned a lot that day. And the Book has a lot of good information.
