In an effort to improve the knowledge base at Bladeforums, I am trying to create a library of tutorials and "how to's" and need your help. These will be added to the stickies for new as well as seasoned makers.

What I am looking for is detailed instructions on how to accomplish various aspects of knifemaking: Hidden tangs, slotting guards, hand sanding, heat treat, folders, bolsters, grinds, jigs, etc.

These can be from Bladeforums WIP's as well as non BF links. If you know of any links that have helped you that you would like to share, please post them here with a brief description of what the link shows.

Looking forward to what you come up with.

As with any list of links, many will be dead after a while. This list used to be the main one used. I checked, and a lot are dead, but others open. Check the ones that interest you and do some google searches with that search name. The current tutorial location will often be in the search results.....along with many others.

For example, The link to "Build a Frame Lock Folder" is dead. If you put that in a google search, you will get dozens of tutorials on that subject.

Here's a video tutorial on etching that we did a couple weeks ago. The essence of it is that it shows just how quickly you can etch. I had always thought it took a couple minutes, but we did a very clean etch in just three seconds, although that isn't in the video.
