A little while ago, I ordered a motor from Ebay, and what are the chances that I would feel too sick to go to school, and it came today? It works too! 1.5 hp, and it was only $108 including shipping! It's very quiet, closed cell (I think that's the term) and reversible. Good score?

You did awesome i paid 210 canadian for the 1 horse i just bought. But motors all seem to be made either in mexico or usa so the shipping is the killer up here. 25 pound 30 pound motor costs 50 bucks to ship to canada. You will need a larger breaker but thats no big deal20 amp breaker . great score.

Yeah, it is totally enclosed and fan cooled. We have the house wired for 20 amps, but I'll probably set it up for 220v.

Good Score Mike! I'm building my grinder now too. I got a 3/4 hp TEFC from my uncle for nuthin. It's gonna spin a 23" wheel :D

Here's my rough design of a grinder to go with the motor. It has a 10" contact wheel on the front, and a flat platen on the back. Then on the same drive shaft, I will either put a small grinder (1/2", 3/4" and 1" contact wheels) or I'll have a buffing wheel.
