I bought one of the milled receiver AK variations with the Steyr barrel, imported by Arsenal some years ago. It definitely shoots tighter groups than most of the stamped steel receiver rifles I've fired. However, a lot of the serious AK aficionados seem to prefer the stamped receivers.

Anybody looking for a good value on Red Dot site's they have Tasco's at K-mart for $40. 1 year warranty. Works good. I will post some pics when I get my mount.

you can own full auto in several states as long as you fill out the paperwork and pay the tax.

Washington is not one of the states you can own full auto (much to my sorrow). You can own a silencer.

Bought myself a WASR-10 with a regular stock last november. 350 bucks on a black friday sale, some friends and I went in and walked out with four of them.

Have only had it out a couple times but it shoots and cycles just fine. I wouldn't mind papering it sometime in the future just to see how it does. It has proved itself just perfect for what I intended, a pickup/tractor gun and all around farm beater. It's ugly and rough but goes bang every time you pull the trigger.

Mine does not seem to have any trigger slap.

Your post is somewhat misleading. The paperwork and tax you speak of ($200 stamp) are the same for a suppressor and a FA. The real cost of purchasing a FA is the cost of the weapon itself. Expect to pay 5 figures for anything decent due to supply being cut off in 1986.

You are correct when it comes to WA State, you cannot own a FA unless you owned it before the early 90's and were grandfathered in. Also, you can own a suppressor but not fire it due to state law. However, SB 5112 is working its way through the State Senate to legalize use of lawfully owned suppressors.

You can still purchase modern made fully automatic weapons...there is not such cut off for 1986. The paperwork that needs to be filled out is the same for a short barreled rifle, shotgun, suppressor or fully automatic weapon through the BATFE. This can take a year or two just to get approved and the regulated item transferred to you. Original cost of a fully automatic weapon is five figures, but the bare minimum tax that has to be paid, yearly, is around 200 bucks, per weapon, suppressor, etc. and this can add up. Plus, the paperwork has to be with the weapon at all times; you get pulled over with the gun and no paperwork and its boom, felony time. Not to mention incidental costs such as ammo and the full auto thing becomes very expensive.

If that mount is attached to the dust cover, don't expect it to hold zero very well.

Love to hear more on your expertise.

I have used it and it is very sturdy, has set screws and fits much tighter than the original cover. It has many great customer reviews at the sportsman guide where I bought it. Go take a look if you are so inclined.
