Was in PepBoys today getting the brakes done I was killing some time walking through the tool section when I stumbled across smal flint replacements for the torch lighters it was 2.99 for a pack of 5 They are really small and portable so I thought I'd pickem up and give em a try, after the break job was done I immediately drove to a woodlot not to far from the house and tested em out running them up the file of my Leatherman wave on to some cotton balls. worked like a charm, the only thing is that they are really small and hard to hold on to but it is a good sparker if paired with the right striker and will fit even in to the smallest kits. come to think of it that and a few Q tip heads in a wax or cork sealed bullet casing and your set.

heck man, carry them and the striker they go with an' yer firemakin' kit'll be shinin' like a diamond in a goats butt....:D

I'm wondering if I couldn;t get some of those and rout a groove in a piece of hardwood, then cut it down and epoxy the flint in the groove. RescueRiley are they round or what?

yeah, there round they are also fitted with small threaded brass attatchments so they can be screwed in to the striker they could easily be epoxied or possibly screwed onto part of a gun cleaning rod or something similar
