Howdy folks!
I just received a new job today!
Let's just say its a dream job for me and I couldn't be happier.
I start in two weeks.
I'll be making more money.
So. I'm buying myself a present with my first paycheck.
Do I get:
A Strider
A Sebenza
Or something traditional like GEC or North woods?
I've never handled any of these options and have no way to handle them.
I'll use it and EDC it.
Fit and finish is super super important to me. I want to be able to use it. Sometimes hard, but no abuse.
I can only buy one.
Help!!
Pictures would be great.

UPDATE:
I just bought a Chris Reeve Small Sebenza 21! I am super excited!
I decided on it over the Strider because Chris Reeve knives are known to be more "perfect". Plus, I dont own a single item in my life that has titanium, so the fact that he whole handle is titanium was a big draw too. I cant wait for it to get here!

Congrats on the new job! :thumb up: What line of work or what field, so I know what direction to head in? :)

I vote Sabenza 25 w/micarta. No good reason tho. I just think its a good gift to my self blade lol.

Get a benza. Next paycheck get the strider. And so on.

Thanks guys! I got a job in a can factory.
I'm leaning towards either a Sebenza 25 plain or a Strider SNG Lego.

If you're wanting hard use knife with great steel, get a strider and have a company that stands behind there product if you ever need warranty service.

If you want as close to perfect fit and finish (that a production knife can be) lean towards the sebenza.

Honestly if you're making as much money as you say you are, Id get both with consecutive paychecks.

doesn't hurt to try both and if you dislike one sell it.

personally I'm leaning towards custom knives now because you can have it made to the specifications you want.

Congrats on the new job btw

Congrats on the new job. Canning is actually pretty cool. I visited the vistor center at Bush Beans in TN and they have a really neat history and they mention the canning process. I never realized that they cooked the canned stuff inside the can versus cooking it first before placing in the can. What do I know? Not much apparantly. yes, I have a picture with Duke.

A special knife..... I would suggest a Northwoods Madison in Elephant ivory, but I don't believe there are any left. They sold so quickly and I believe Dereck has gone through a second shipment since January.

This poster is 100% correct. Just be careful of which model of Strider (SMF, Sng, PT) or Sebenza (small or large size) that you purchase...BEFORE you order it. You need to make sure which size will fit YOUR hand...
Congrats on your new job...
Here is a couple of Chris Reeve knives... The two Sebenzas are a "SMALL" and a "LARGE" Sebenza. The large measures about 4.80" closed length. Note that a "SMALL" measures less than 4.0" closed length...a tremendous length difference. FYI, the CRK Umnumzaan is very similar to the large Sebenza, but is designed with more of a tactical influence.

Next pic below...a pic of folders that would do the job very nicely...big range of prices...from $120 to $725...beautiful folders that I ONCE owned...the bummer is that the Umnumzaan is the only one I still have...
start @ 12 noon, go cw:
CRK Umnumzaan, Hinderer XM18-3" slicer, Hinderer XM-18-3.5" spanto grind, Spyderco PM2
then, @ 6pm...Strider SMF, Strider Sng, Strider SL75, CRK large Sebenza.

Awesome pictures! Thanks! I'm thinking a large Sebenza 21

Congrats on the new job! I remember when I was deciding between a CRK and a Strider. I ended up going with CRK because of the better consistency with near perfection. If you constantly stare at and admire every nook and cranny of the knife like I do, you will love the Sebbie. Enjoy...

Based on your taste for knives... I'd like to hear what kind of nice watch you recommend. :)

Already have a nice watch. :) I have a Strider watch, AKA a G-Shock.

Great news and best of luck with your new job. May you flourish and shine with your skills, and may your new knife help you along the way.

Op, I just got a new job too making good $, I start tomorrow.

I did the same thing, I wanted to buy myself a "gift" and was think a sebenza or something of similar price. However, I got a hold of a zt 0454 last night instead.

They are sold out now, but if you keep an eye on the exchange, you may just be able to grab one in the next few days.

That's just my suggestion, since the sebenza/strider aren't going anywhere, they're always available while the 0454 had less than 300 made.

Congrats, guys, on the new jobs! Great to hear.

As for a knife, the best 'go everywhere' knife would be a North Woods, imo. Always in your pocket and non-threatening to co-workers. The money you save over buying a Sebenza, could be spent on a fine steak dinner for you and yours.
