Got a new Voyager Large Drop Point

How do you guys like the Aus 10A? I've heard good reports thus far. Any issues with toughness/chippiness?

I can't comment directly on the steel in the new drop point, but if we assume it is the same as the rest of their Aus10 it is good to go. It is, for me, exactly the kind of steel that I like in a knife I intend to use. Decent edge retention, easy to sharpen, tough enough that if you break it (not that I ever have) you damn well know who's fault it is, and cheap enough that you can afford to shrug and carry on if that does somehow happen.

it is a great steel mated to perfect EDC knives in the Voyager series. The XLs, my preferred length, are large enough for self defense while still being handy enough to serve as great tools. I carry an XL Tanto often at work for just this reason and it has never failed me. I keep it scary sharp, cut everything that needs it without concern, and strop it back into shape in the evening. Love it.

I am sure the new drop point is every bit as nice.

I'm with Chris Texas, it is the kind of steel I like. I have never been into super steels. These Voyagers hold an edge very well for me, and sharpening is a joy. Toughness has been fine for me, no chips or damage.
Of course, I have not chopped thru any concrete blocks, and to be honest, I haven't actually killed a robot. Yet

Thanks for the reply. I just got a clip point Voyager a few days ago. I'd avoided it due to the grivory scales, but I'm absolutely blown away by the model. The grivory is actually great and super grippy, but moreso than anything, the design is absolutely phenomenal. Maybe the best ergos of any folder I've handled, and that says a lot. Plus, the fit and finish is exceptional. It really does not feel like a $50 dollar knife to me. More like $100 plus so just a great value. I have no experience with the steel, but I intend to put it through its paces!

I'm with you with regards to most super steels. I'm not much a fan of the S110V, S90V, M390 class as I find them to chip easily in my uses. I do, however, appreciate steels like Cruwear and 3V with great toughness and edge stability.

I too received my first voyager about 2 weeks ago and liked it so much I ordered the large one and a spare XL one. Lol. It is just plain fun to use and play with. I’ll take pics when the others get here monday

I have a few AUS-8 large Voyagers; they rock. I can use and abuse with abandon due to their price point. I have my user/abuser and a couple of back-ups. Despite my best efforts, I have never had to dig into the back-ups as the user/abuser just keeps on soldiering on. Oh, and mine are AUS-8 so to an even greater extent the AUS-10 Voyagers will be awesome.

Always with Cold Steel, great performance and great value.
