got a problem with my fiskars

Mine has chips in the same place. I imagine it's normal.

Post a picture, you'd only have to return it to the place of purchase if indeed it was a manufacturing defect. Beat the snot out of it this weekend chopping wood, and the character it gets from being used will overshadow a few small chips in the plastic handle. If it were a wooden handle and you overstruck the head it could break the wood handle, so a few small chips are nothing to worry about. Enjoy it's value priced efficency.

They kick @$$ its only a 14 inch hatchet but it chop like a common axe:eek:

Hey, like everyone else, mine has some too, but dont worry about it. Its a well built axe, and will last years with proper care.

One of the best mods for any Fiskers brand hatchet is to get rid of that large secondary bevel that's about 1/4" in from the edge. Take a hockey puck type ax sharpening stone and sand that bevel off both sides. Convex the edge and you'll really enjoy the wee hatchet even more than when it was brandy, shiny new!

I remember OldJimbo taking down the bevel and convexing the edge. I think he even concaved the primary bevel to increase performance. It didn't make a difference in performance if I recall correctly.
