Well I got a Spec-Ops Combat Master Sheath for my BK2 (short 6" version). It's a quality sheath. I did heat up the insert and stretched it a bit since the retention was mighty tight in the factory stock form. Here's some shots of how it looks and comparison to the size of the knife.

I find that it hangs at a very comfortable height. It's easy to reach and draw without strain to the shoulder. The split belt loop design works well and does assist in keeping the knife in place. There is a very slight forward cant to the sheath when worn, but i do not find it to be annoying or that it affects function in any way.

Side note, I did decide to shape my BK2 blade a bit. Not a full convex, but just smoothed out the blade. I polished it up and then figured I'd let a natural patina work in. Last night I cooked a steak dinner and carved some pumpkins with the kids with my BK2. The natural patina is setting in well. We will see how it turns out over time.

A_T_WorkHorse,
Thank you sir. I stippled the grips with a soldering iron.

Bonus content:

The split belt loops easily work to attach to MOLLE. Here it is on my battle belt:

This sheath was intended to be used for gear attaching purposes. I intend on having the sheath attached to my battle belt or lbe vest. I have a Kelly's Customs Sheath on order as of today that I intend on using for regular carry, hiking, camping, hunting, etc.

So where can one of those sheaths be found? And do they come in other variants for longer blades?

I got mine off of Amazon (actually comes from Opticsplanet.com) for $40. They do come in a larger version (up to 8" blades) and in a variety of colors. I got mine in multicam to match my other gear.

Nice bk2, and that is the best stippiling I've seen.

Thank you sir. I really appreciate the compliments. I've been stippling for about 2 years now. I've done many firearms, this was my first knife scale stipple. The Becker scales really do lend themselves to easy stippling. If you are a bit OCD like me and like very fine tipped stippling then it will take you a while though, so be prepared to take breaks along the way if you ever decided to try yourself.

I've been looking at these sheaths for a while and thinking of getting one for my 2. Now I know they fit and look pretty good too, thanks for sharing! And I agree with usarmy74d, that is some great stippling. I did the scales on my 5, and I know how long that took, but for that fine work I bet it took some doing.

Nice sheath. I have a Combat Short in black for my BK-12. Very easy to mold the inner plastic liner to accomodate thumb ramps etc.

NathanJ,
Thank you for the kind words. I hope that the pics do help you in getting one of these sheaths. It really is a quality piece of gear. I'm a bit of a gear junky (big with firearms) and can tell you the stitching is great on these.

BenchmadeBoy,
I agree. Super easy to mod the inner liner. I just used a dryer.

The made in USA Spec-Ops Brand:thumbup: Combat Master Sheaths are the best I have found and use. I have one for my BK2 and also a Ontario knife. It's a quality sheath. I wish they would make more sizes.

I have the same knife in exactly the same sheath. B.T.W., I tried my ESEE 6 in it and I had to remove the bottom screw. For a snug fit it hits the screw, mine did anyway.

The Combat Master Long will fit the BK7 and any blade up to 8" I wonder if it could be made to fit the 9?

I see what you are saying upnorth. Does the insert stay in place with the screw removed?

I took the insert out to heat it in the oven and mold it for the BK-2. I just looked in my box o' toys and the 2 is in the Combat Master, with the screw installed. Sorry I can't answer your question as the insert went through a few heating\molding cycles and is not factory spec anymore. A while back I took the belt hanger off my BK-2 and screwed it onto my ESEE sheath. And the BK-2 went into the Spec Op sheath.

I took the BK-2 belt hanger to a shoe repair shop a few years back, and got him to add a larger nylon retainer with a couple of snaps. Didn't cost much and was a good mod.

I use my 16 as a necker.

Thank you for the response and great modifications to those sheaths. Sometimes it just works better to mix and match pieces.
