Got A Special One On The Way

I have acquired quite a few new Emerson knives lately and told myself that I was going to take it easy for a while but you know how that goes. I figured I would get myself something special for my birthday is coming up and I was looking for some models that I don't have yet. The HD-7 or a custom 7 were what I was after but those things are elusive and go very fast.
I was torn between a custom CQC-12 and custom CQC-45 that I found. I have been digging the clip points lately and have a few models with that blade style so it was going to be one of these. After much debate I decided on the 45, I've got a production 12 and haven't had and 45s cross my path so I figured this was the time to get it.
I'm really excited about this one, this will be my second custom. I come home tomorrow night and this should be waiting for me. Nothing better than spending a week working out of town only to come back to a package waiting for me. I'd love to post pics but have no idea how, if someone could point me to some directions I'll give it a shot.

Congrats on the 45! I own one and wouldn't trade it for any other knife and it's my Holy Grail knife.

Posting picture require some sort of service like photobucket (what I use) where you can post pictures. It's free to open and use. There is a thread here on BF that goes into detail but I don't have that link . Sorry!

This one was a grail for me too. Never thought I would actually find one. Do you have a custom or one that came as a set with the Baer? I love the double diamond grips that come on the set knives. They would match my colt but I figure most people that bought the pistol/knife set would be hard pressed to separate them.

Mine is the custom model with the titanium bolster and green Micarta combo. I recently refinished mine removing the bead blasted texture finish in favor of satin/brushed look like my Tissot T-Touch titanium watch. Just a fan of that brushed titanium look. I would love to get the other variation without bolsters but those are most likely keepers for those that have them.

Wow, that is awesome! I never heard of the '45 until this thread.

Is it basically a SpecWar handle with a CQC-13ish blade?

It would be really cool if they'd do a run, I'd sell a few others to make room for a pair....

The CQC-45 does have a Specwar style handle but with a thicker/taller butt end on the handle and doesn't taper like the Specwar or CQC-11. The blade is like the CQC-12, not the CQC-13 though both are Bowie style.

Hope these pictures work. I really like it and would buy a production model if they are ever released.

From what I can tell all three of these have the same blade other than the swedge on the Regiment.

The 13 has a wider blade that is much more upswept at the tip and of course the swedge.

Some more clip points just for fun. Carried the black 13 this week.

I almost bought a CQC-45 from the green forum. I didn't realize how small it was compared to other Emerson models. I got a custom CQC-13 instead and I think it will fit my hand better

The grip area of the handle is shorter on the CQC-13 due to the hooked shape of the buttend of the handle thought the CQC-13's handle is 1/8" longer overall (assuming the Tiger is same handle silouette as the CQC-13). The CQC-45 has a really good handle to blade length ratio with the tip under 1/8" from the end when closed so the handle seems stubby to some. The CQC-45's actual grip zone from fingerguard to the last bit of jimping is the same as the CQC-11.

Both. There is the limited George Washington Edition and the production model in the usual flavors.

The 45 is the same size as the 12 and the Regiment and right around the 13. The pics were taken at a funny angle making the ones on the top look smaller. Nothing wrong with the 13 though, good choice for a custom. The production 13 has a great handle and the customs always feel better than the productions. I'm actually looking at a custom 12 now but I'm not sure I can afford it.

Here's a photo of some closed and lined up. All are according to where my index finger sits for grip area reference with what I have.

Top row L-R:Mini A-100,Traveler, Endeavor, CQC-7V, HD7, Zealot, CQC-11 and ECA 2014 Regiment.

Bottom row L_R: Traveler, CQC-7AW, Zealot, Tiger, HD12, Specwar-A, CQC-45 custom, CQC-11, Patriot, Vindicator, ETAK-A, El Bandito, Gentleman Jim, Persian and Gypsy Jack.

Nice collection you got there. What you think of the Regiment? I didn't even know they existed until recently and actually joined the ECA to get one. One of those gems that doesn't get much attention. I really like it and am glad I acquired one before they were gone.

Thanks Steely! The Regiment is a cool blade. The action is smooth with no lock stick. The handle is comfortable but I'm not too fond of the butt end. Figuring that I have the ETAK, the Regiment would be close. Not really. I don't have a better picture but I extended the end of the handle to have a "hook" like the ETAK or the HD12 when I made the scales. I also extended the fingerguard down to be more like the CQC-8's and extended the thumbramp. It was a nice knife to start with but now is more to me liking after the mod.

Here's a picture I posted in the gallery. the Regiment is in the left row 2nd from the top.
